Vermont Secessionist Losers and Their Trail of Broken Political Promises and Bullshit

With those words, two time loser for an Addison county Vermont state senate seat, closed his 2012 campaign, seemingly promising to rise again from its ashes to wage another fruitless campaign. He even immediately renamed his Facebook page, "Robert Wagner for Vermont Senate 2014" where on March 13, 2013 he wrote,

"I remain your candidate..."

Well, maybe not so much. That was the last thing he's posted on the matter. More than a year later, June's 2014 filing date for independent Senate candidates came and went with no petition submitted by Wagner. Even his "Senator Wagner" website has gone dark.

Likewise, Wagner's self-described "friend," the proudly misogynist and the inveterate anti-Semite at Rob Williams' hate blog, Dennis "Hit List" Morrisseau, also failed to register for an independent run for a Rutland county Vermont Senate seat but he still has a 2014 campaign website. Go figure.

Morrisseau was the architect of plan to replace each and every one of Vermont's senate incumbents with secesher Kool-Aid drinkers. I guess that's now on hold too.

In a fashion similar to Wagner's, Vermont's 2010 secesher gubernatorial candidate Dennis Steele, while acknowledging that more than 99% of Vermonters voted for someone else, pledged,

"Today represents a beginning, not an end. When I agreed to take on the difficult and exhausting task of running for Governor as an independent this year, I did so with the hopes that my actions would serve to help lay the foundations for a robust, grass-roots movement that will carry the message of a Free Vermont forward. Towards that end, I’ve been collaborating with several supporters to found a democratic, state-wide organization. Dedicated to spreading the ideas of Vermont Independence, providing support for Independence-minded candidates for public office, and organizing volunteer activities that both serve our neighbors and help lessen our communities’ dependence on the Federal Government, it will serve as our movement’s new center and engine of growth. It will be organized by county, and I encourage anyone who supported my campaign to get involved in their county committee."

And since then no one has heard shit from Dennis Steele. According to one published report, it indicates that he's presently engaged in peddling an addictive and possibly carcinogenic substance in the NEK. So much for "serv(ing)... neighbors" and reducing "dependence," eh?

After their miserable showing in 2010, the seceshers declared their "independence" and established a provisional capital in the sparsely populated central Vermont town of Hancock. Most of the VT secesher movement's luminaries attended the convening session of their, uh, congress - their hate blog publisher, Rob; Gary "The Rocket Scientist and Public Bankster" Flomenhoft; Matt "Never Won An Election Yet" Cropp; you know, the usual suspects.

A promised run by a Fairfax, VT secesher insider has also failed to materialize. Secesher outliers like "Terry" Jeroloman, Gus Jaccaci, James Merriman and Gaelan "Aliens-NASA Conspiracy on the Dark Side of the Moon" Brown are again sitting this election cycle out.

The fact is that the only secession supporters left running are kooks like Ben Eastwood, Emily Peyton and Peter Diamondstone (who raised secession in a debate with Bernie Sanders in 2012), and there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that any one of them will eke out more than a low single or fractional digit electoral result.

It's beginning to look more and more like Thomas Naylor's dream of an independent white homeland called the Second Vermont Republic or Novacadia or some such nonsense, is nearly as dead as he is.

Multi Time Secessionist Loser Robert Wagner to Run for One of Two Addison County (VT) Senate Seats - Maybe

From the Monday, June 9, 2014 Addison Independent's article here on 2014 legislative candidates:

"As of Friday (June 6), Ripton (VT) independent Robert Wagner (via his Facebook page) was the only confirmed challenger for one of the two seats. Wagner has run unsuccessfully for a state Senate seat the past two election cycles."

Okay, call me cynical but I hardly think that a Facebook page titled "Robert Wagner for Vermont Senate 2014" that hasn't had a new post since March 13, 2013 is hardly "confirmation." Similarly, "Senator" Wagner, as he likes to call himself, hasn't had a new post at his campaign website since November 25, 2012. Let's wait to see if he registers with the Vermont Secretary of State as a candidate - who knows, he may pull a Peyton and run in the Republican primary as an Addison county Senate candidate. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Meanwhile, in another matter related to Wagner's conflicting positions, there's been no word yet about whether Wagner will be returning the $288.30 Federal subsidy he received while flying out of the airport in Rutland, VT, which is exactly the kind of Federal subsidy that he "is strongly opposed to" and has argued harms Vermonters that I revealed he'd hypocritically availed himself of (as in sticking his snout in the federal money trough) here. Wagner must publicly give back that subsidy money or he'll be exposed for the hypocritical fraud that many of us Vermonters now know him to be.

Rob Williams' Second Vermont Republic Hate Blogger Dennis Morrisseau Engages in a Little Old Fashioned Jew Baiting

Pawlet, VT's Dennis "Hit List" Morrisseau, a longtime friend to the still dead secessionist leader Thomas H. Naylor (you may remember him for his plot to create a white homeland in northern New England and the Canadian Maritime provinces, and for his alliances with southern white supremacists at the League of the South) and also a friend to the failed secesher Vermont Senate candidate from Ripton, VT, Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner, who's issued a "news release" last weekend that reeks of blatant Jew-baiting.

Morrisseau's ALL CAPS riddled rant, which you'll find reprinted at the bottom of this post, singles out a Jew, who sits on no US Senate committee with a any pull in foreign affairs, for not having spoken out about, well, it's not entirely clear what Denny would have U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders speak out about given the incoherency of the "communique" from Denny's Morrisseau World Newsservice, which doesn't have a website but is, rather, an irregular email blast to a long list of people who never use his crap. Content of the emails depends more on Denny's then state of mind than on anything that would normally be considered news. Denny's always on the watch for Semitic contagion, particularly in governance. Here's the money quote for his latest unhinged missive:

"WHO is it really that is pushing this crap on Ukraine? WHO are the actual people behind all this? Do they have Jewish names by any chance? Do you know? Do you even know?"

That's the sort of list making "news commentary" one would associate with neo-Nazi websites like Stormfront.org or the deeply anti-Semitic Veterans Today where Denny likes to post some of his seething commentary. I give you Denny's entire email; don't forget to wash up when you're done.

Dennis "Hit List" Morrisseau Reaches A New Low

It probably wouldn't come as much of a surprise to regular readers of this blog that I consider the perennial loser candidate for various state offices, Dennis "Hit List" Morrisseau to be a lowlife and a scumbag. Denny's never found a conspiracy theory that he couldn't embrace, no matter how outrageous or ridiculous. Denny's used chicken wire engineering to explain how the discredited 9/11 Truthers got it right, basing his junk science on the work of cabal of anti-Semites from American Free Press, VeteransToday.com and Jim Fetzer's 9/11 Scholars for Truth. There's more on Fetzer here, as well as a piece that he had published (he's a regular contributor) at the anti-Semitic, Holocaust denying and anti-American website maintained by the Iranian Ministry for Propaganda, Press TV, entitled "Mossad Death Squads Slaughtered American Children at Sandy Hook."

Fetzer's a proponent of the conspiracist notion that those scores of Newtown, CT parents are faking the real grief we were all witness to. In particular, he's got a conspiracist stiffy for one parent, Robbie Parker, whose daughter was murdered by Adam Lanza. Setting aside for the moment the cognitive dissonance of first accusing the Israelis of perpetrating the massacre while then accusing the parents of the murdered children of being a part of vast governmental conspiracy to concoct a fake massacre for the purpose of creating just the right climate to push through legislation to seize American's guns, let's take a look at who this nutter is citing as a compelling authority on Robbie Parker faking it. It's stunningly offensive to the parent and other families. Take it away, Denny:

It's always been clear that Denny's a viciously misogynistic, anti-Semitic, conspiracy addled nutter whose hatred for so many people - the poor, the homeless, virtually all of Vermont's legislators, reality based Vermonters, Jews and women - was such an attractive combination for Vermont's secessionist movement but I just never realized that he could be this despicable in pursuit of his completely dishonest worldview. Look! Up In The Air! It's A Bird... It's A Plane... Nah, It's Just Another Drone.

Taking a break from his normally useless movie and book reviews that always seem to come to the same conclusion that even though the subject covered rarely is even remotely associated with secession, that it is, in fact, all about secession, Vermont Commons journal blog publisher Rob Williams launched into a muddled piece here about drones and a whole lot more. Apparently, law and jurisdictional issues aren't Rob's strong suit - kinda like his complete inability to meet any of the Vermont secession movement goals set years ago by he and his still dead (as they use to say on SNL) compatriot, Thomas H. Naylor; secessionist supporters serving in the Vermont General Assembly to advance Articles of Secession by 2015 or the plan to have secession discussions going on at 200 Vermont Town meetings in 2012 (there wasn't even one!). The piece veers off into a number of seemingly disconnected areas that is reminiscent of a writing style often employed by Vermont secesher "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner. Whatever.

This time Rob or Robert's panties are in a knot over drones and aerial surveillance. "He" writes,

"Drones like the ones in these pictures have been seen flying over Vermont. A local citizens organization, The Watchers, has earned a solid reputation for gathering facts, for watching the money. The Watchers obtained the evidence that you see here. Using airborne evidence, the State Police sometimes make a follow-up visit to determine exactly what a crop is, as has happened in Addison County. As the Addison Independent has printed, the police produced no warrant. In spite of the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees our rights against warrantless searches and seizures."

Of course, we aren't given a links to "The Watchers" or the Addison Independent story. A website calling itself Drone Watchers is thin on substance and if The Watchers has such a "solid reputation" for "watching," Google has little evidence other than the Drone Watcher website which, by the way, has no information about done usage in Vermont. Probably this story from the March 2008 archive at the Addy concerning a Goshen, VT resident and neighbor to Ripton, VT's repeatedly failed Vermont senatorial candidate, Robert Wagner is the one being referred to by Rob/Robert. Nor is there information about the warrant or lack thereof in the secesher piece but the facts are probably contained in this Vermont Supreme Court decision.

Typically, Rob or Robert got the facts all screwed up. The Vermont State Police produced a search warrant when they physically searched the property. It was the probable cause used to obtain the warrant that was defective. Oh, and what was also not made clear in Robert's (er, or was it Rob's piece?) is that there was no drone involved. The surveillance aircraft used was a helicopter, but, hey, what's the dif? Well, given the emphasis on drones in this piece, a lot. But since when have facts ever stood in the way of a meme that the seceshers were trying to promote?

It comes down to this: While the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in Florida v. Riley that aerial surveillance must be above 400 feet, Vermont's rules require that such surveillance must occur at more than 500 feet. Beneath that, plain view doctrines do not apply and a warrant is required. That shouldn't be too hard for anyone, even a secesher, to understand but it seems that their standard of surveillance elevation is infinite. And that's legal crap.

Unsurprisingly, the legal eagles in the Vermont secesher camp seem to have missed the most important issue in the case. The VSC held that,

"¶7. Based on the evidence presented at the suppression hearing, the court found that the helicopter circled defendant’s property for approximately fifteen to thirty minutes, well below 500 feet in altitude, and at times as low as 100 feet above the ground. Although both the trooper and the pilot testified that the helicopter remained at least 500 feet off the ground at all times, the court did not find their testimony to be credible. The court further found that pilots doing MERT (Marijuana Eradication Team) flights in Vermont are told to stay at least 500 feet above the ground and that, according to a National Guard pilot who testified for the State, the reason MERT pilots are so directed is to avoid invasions of privacy."

Despite the discussion 10 years later in the Vermont legislature about marijuana legalization in this session, maintaining a pot patch was notoriously illegal in 2003. Wagner's been railing on about hemp and helicopters for years. Certainly, potential constituents of this self created public figure can fairly speculate on what he's been fussin' about.

But why isn't/aren't the Rob/Robert more concerned about the Court's finding that the state trooper and the guard airman's testimony are not "credible?" That would seem to the more significant issue here. R'n R's contention that they "can do something about"... "domestic surveillance in Vermont" is total bullshit, yet they've been completely silent on what the Court defined as unacceptable testimony from a police agency representative. I guess that's what gets missed when a would be pol is busy carrying water for a dope growing constituent.

If that doesn't convince you that these seceshers are assholes, consider their commentary offered about Rutland:

"This discovery has emerged in the wake of surveillance cameras recently deployed in Burlington, Rutland and smaller towns."

Vermont cities and towns have been increasingly under attack by vandals, drug addicts, thieves and strong arm merchants of terrors for years. There has been no offer of a solution from Vermont seceshers to this date for the crime situation for anywhere in Vermont. Rutland, in particular, has suffered incredibly yet the secesher silence on crime issues has been deafening except for when they're expressing admiration for headcase vandals like Roger Pion who have caused hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage to public property.

Rutland has followed the prescriptions of the bipartisan Constitution Project regarding community oriented implementation of public surveillance systems. The "core principles governing the creation and design of public video surveillance systems" outlined by the Constitution Project are not the heebie jeebie legal premises of the seceshers. They recommend,

"1. Create a public video surveillance system only to further a clearly articulated law enforcement purpose. 2. Create permanent public video surveillance systems only to address serious threats to public safety that are of indefinite duration. 3. Ensure that public video surveillance systems are capable of effectively achieving their articulated purposes. 4. Compare the cost of a public video surveillance system to alternative means of addressing the stated purposes of the system. 5. Assess the impact of a public video surveillance system on constitutional rights and values. 6. Design the scope and capabilities of a public video surveillance system to minimize its negative impact on constitutional rights and values. 7. Create technological and administrative safeguards to reduce the potential for misuse and abuse of the system. 8. Ensure that the decision to create a public video surveillance system, as well as major decisions affecting its design, are made through an open and publicly accountable process."

Recently, a single group of vandals was responsible for more than $50,000 in damage in Rutland and it was as a result of evidence provided by privately maintained surveillance video that the three perpetrators were caught, and that was just a single grouping of vandalism sprees that have plagued Rutland for more than a dozen years. Murders in public spaces of Rutland that all should expect, no, demand, to be safe, have repeatedly occurred; one huffing scumbag, while driving in an neighborhood now demanding surveillance protection from public officials, crushed a teen between between her father's car and a building while her father helplessly witnessed the murder from his driver's seat, yet there has been no outcry from the Vermont secesher community about this case. Could the knowledge of surveillance equipment in that public, crime ridden area have deterred that outrage? We can never know, but seceshers don't want to find out. Their belief is that the 4th Amendment constitutes a suicide pact that reaches beyond the scope of prohibited governmental activity. Properly executed "plain view" searches in public areas where there can be no expectation of privacy have long been permitted by the courts. The secesher candidates, including two Rutland county senate candidates in 2010 and 2012 never once mentioned the crime crisis in Rutland. Instead they complained that the "Israeli Mafia" was the problem in Vermont; that a Jewish "hit list" was needed; that legislators should be subject to capital punishment for misfeasance (probably, no, especially the Jews; and that, ya know, the Jews were involved with 9/11.

The fact is that there are many benign, labor-saving uses for drones: in the arts, archeology, mining, ranching (yes, they're even used to herd livestock), crop observation (by farmers, not cops), traffic monitoring, even animal rights activists use'em (although the hunters they were trying to observe eventually shot their drone down), to name only a few of such uses. Hell, even FedEx and UPS are considering adding drones to their shipping operations. And who can forget the Occupy Wall Street drone buzzing Zuccotti Park on behalf of, yup, the Occupiers?

So thanks, Rob or "Senator" Robert or whatever nutjob may have written the most recent muddled post on Rob's blog under his name. To paraphrase what Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley said in 1968, the seceshers aren't "there (just) to create disorder; the (seceshers are here) to preserve disorder," confusion and, apparently, crime. If I were a secesher I might even call it a conspiracy but I don't think that they're smart enough to pull something that badly contrived off.

More on Those Addison County 2012 Senate Results

Nationally recognized expert on Vermont and national politics, Eric Davis, professor emeritus of political science at Middlebury College weighed in on the 2012 Addison County state senate race between incumbent Sen. Claire (D), Democratic former Vermont House member (as well as having served in a number of other community service posts) Chris Bray and never-ever likely to be  Senator Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner, a recurring Vermont secession movement candidate who, from  what I can find, has never won any office here or in Brooklyn, NY where he hails from.

This from today's Addison Independent on the race:

"While the 5,073 tallies registered by Wagner were considerably more than the 1,127 he garnered in 2010, political observers did not attribute that to Wagner gaining more traction with his campaign in which he championed, among other things, eliminating the personal income tax and instead taxing natural resource extraction as well as unearned income from land speculation. Eric L. Davis, a political analyst and professor emeritus of political science at Middlebury College, said Wagner’s beefed-up numbers likely came from tallies tossed to him by Republican voters who did not have a GOP candidate to vote on in this year’s race for state senate. For the first time in decades, Republicans did not field a single candidate for Addison County’s two state Senate seats. GOP officials have cited as reasons the rigors of campaigning and the senatorial district losing Brandon (a Republican stronghold) and gaining Huntington (which leans Democratic) through reapportionment. 

Davis noted the election returns show that roughly 17,500 Addison County residents voted for president on Tuesday. Those same people had two votes to cast in the state Senate race, which could have produced a total of around 35,000 votes. But only around 28,000 votes were cast in the state Senate race, meaning that approximately 7,000 voters did not make two selections in that contest. 

“The Wagner vote represents Republicans who wanted another name on the ballot and there were no Republicans to vote on, so they voted for Wagner,” Davis said.But Wagner, reached on Wednesday, discounted Davis’s analysis. 

“We don’t know until we ask people why” they voted the way they did, he said.Wagner said he believes most Vermonters classify themselves as independent, and he perceived his vote total as evidence of growing support. And he believes any votes tossed his way on Tuesday were a statement against majority party rule in general, rather than just a jab at Democrats. He said he is likely to run for state Senate again in the future."

Davis' analysis jibes with what I first posted about months ago and mentioned again two nights ago as the election came to a close: Wagner would pick up votes from some Republicans who had nowhere else to go.  At his website Wagner continues to inflate the importance of his showing but it's all starting to sound too contorted - sad, really.

"Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics" Concerning the Addison County Election Results for 2012

"Figures often beguile me, particularly when I have the arranging of them myself; in which case the remark attributed to  (Benjamin) Disraeli would often apply with justice and force: 'There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.'"Mark Twain - 1906

The quote above is one that comes to mind whenever I hear pols and their would be brethren, spin election results.  After the brief post preceding this one, which was put up primarily to be the first (and likely the last) to chronicle the never-ever-gonna-be Senator Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner's latest loss in his bid to unseat Addison County's real Sen. Claire Ayer (D), I thought a little light needed to be shed on his assertions about the Addison County election results in 2012.

The Vermont secession movement candidate, Robert Wagner, is now pointing to his having finished dead last as, well, I should let him explain it to you from his testy concession post that he grandiosely titled Great Accomplishments in 2012,

"Thanks to you I have shot up to 18%, with no money spent. Vote count has tripled to 4273 (from 1278) two years ago. My home town, Ripton cast 30% of its votes for me."

Here's the weakness in Wagner's self-serving analysis: Republicans didn't

 field any candidates for the two Addison County senate seats, one of which was an open seat.  As I pointed out months ago, Wagner stood to benefit from the absence of any Republican candidate for the county senate seats, and the numbers bear that fact out.

It's no secret that there are many, Republicans and Democrats, that can't vote ever for someone in the other party.  That seems to have been borne out in by the return he cited for his present hometown, Ripton, VT - official results have yet to be posted at the Vermont Secretary of State's website so let's just assume for the moment there's some truth to what he says in this instance and that his thumb isn't on the scale.  What Wagner doesn't tell you is that in 2010 the percentage of people in Ripton, VT who didn't vote for a Democrat was virtually identical to this year.

Wagner has an ongoing relationship with the Republican fringe over at the Ron Paultard inspired Liberty Candidates, Teabagger website here and his results around Addison County would seem to confirm his Republican affiliated ties.

Wagner announced early on that he was targeting the Addison County senate seat of incumbent Democrat Claire Ayer, which reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of how the county legislative electoral process works on his part.  In short, Sen. Ayer soundly kicked his ass in every town in Addison County, ultimately crushing her putative opponent (at least in his mind) by 30% points.  Similar to the Ripton results, the Wagner vote count in the other towns generally mirrored past Republican results.  So as Wagner himself has asked in his own post on his stunning defeat despite the field of candidates have been clear of opposition from the Republican quarter,

"Cui bono? Who benefits? Draw your own conclusions."

we can adduce, "Che ha beneficiato della mancanza di un candidato Repubblicano a Addison County" or who benefits from the absence of Republican candidates in Addison County (that is, besides the Democrats).  It's safe to conclude that was the non-Dem in the senate race, Robert Wagner.

The problem for Wagner is that Republicans aren't likely to continue to concede the field to the Democrats and nor are they going to feel inclined to endorse a purported independent candidate who has vowed to take Vermont out of the Union.

Speaking of which, one of Wagner's announced plans from way back in 2010 was to field a slate of secessionist candidates for every Senate seat in Vermont's General Assembly that he said not a word about in his Great Accomplishments in 2012 post, a group he called "The Thirty." Early on he even went so far as to lie repeatedly about how many he'd already "recruited" in June of 2011, saying that he had 6 seceshers ready to go (here and here).  As it turned out, only two others - perennial flake Peter Moss in Franklin County and Terry Jeroloman in Chittenden County - longtime secesher supporters, as in Kool-Aid drinkers, made Wagner's anti-American cut.  Like Wagner each came in dead last in their respective races - Moss with 4% and Jeroloman with 1%.  Truly sad, the whole, small lot of them.  "The only way is up," huh, guys?

As the election season disastrously closed for this year's tiny crew of Vermont secesher office seekers, their baas, the Dixie singin' founder of the moribund Second Vermont Republic whose failed utterly in his plan to take Vermont out of the Union, Thomas H. Naylor, has announced that he's expanding his horizon beyond that unachieved object to now, get this,

"SVR has broadened its mission to include a commitment to... the peaceful breakup of meganations such as the United States, China, and Russia"

Sure, Tom. Get right on that. No doubt the U.S., China, Russia and whoever else you've got in your cross hairs are preparing to capitulate given your stunning lack of success here in Vermont.  More likely not.  Certainly President Obama wasn't specifically referring to Vermont's "small community of secessionists" (as one founder of SVR, Ian Baldwin, refers to them) when he gave his victory speech in the wee hours of November 7 but Naylor, Baldwin, Wagner and the remainder of the dwindling Vermont secesher movement should pay heed to his closing words:

"We are greater than the sum of our individual ambitions and we remain more than a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and forever will be, the United (emphasis, the President's) States of America."

BREAKING! Addison County Vermont Senate Election Result

Well, maybe not so much.  Wagner's numbers are up slightly at this point from two years ago but given that no Republican ran against the Dems Ayer and Bray, it's surprising that Senator Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner did so poorly.  Why Wagner couldn't do better since there are so many Republicans that can't bring themselves to vote for a Democratic candidate might have to do with his dissing Republicans on other websites and Facebook; maybe some of the Republicans who did throw him a vote just hadn't heard that Wagner is a bigtime proponent of neo-Georgist/Marxist economics for Vermont.

No matter.  Wagner continues to be a major Vermont secession movement loser - he didn't replace 1 of the 30 Vermont senators that he'd vowed to have voted out, nor did any of his endorsed indy newbies make an electoral dent as he claimed that they would.

Wagner now supplants weirdo Dennis Steele (2010 secesher gubernatorial candidate) as defacto head of the list of majorly defeated, delusional seceshers that remain on the Vermont political scene.  If he follows his past practice, he'll announce his next campaign sometime tomorrow - not a very Vermont thing.  But, hey, this native Brooklynite who's only lived here a few years and has taken to calling others who've lived here decades longer as being "flatlanders" probably hasn't figured that out yet.

Addison County's On Again, Off Again, Vermont State Senate Candidate, Robert Wagner, Seems to Be At the End of the Line For the 2012 Election Cycle

After having dropped out of sight for weeks, nay, months, Vermont's obsessively negative campaigner and the not-ever-likely-to-be, self declared "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner has indicated that he's dropping in and/or out again.  In a persistently, yes, hateful campaign full of distortions, an exceedingly negative tone, and repeated mistruths about his opponents and those of other candidates for whom Wagner's offered uniformly unrequited support, Wagner has taken his campaign to a low that was only equaled by his 2010 secessionist running mates, Dennis Steele and Peter Garritano.

Last week, after I posted that his campaign's been on an oddly extended hiatus as the 2012 election cycle winds to a close, Wagner belatedly began posting again about his campaign machine moving into overdrive - door-to-door outreach, sign waving - but nothing really seems to be coming of his, uh, late "October surprise" campaign twirl.

Early voting began during the last week of September, while Wagner was on break, but Wagner's announcement of his going door-to-door in Addison County didn't come until the last week in October - not exactly a winning strategy.  Town clerks from across the state are reporting early voting is up and "in some communities it's expected that as many as a third of all voters will cast their ballot before Election Day."  Funnier still, last week Wagner announced that he'd be doing a campaign sign wave event in downtown Middlebury on Saturday, October 27, between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM.   I didn't  find him there at 12:00 PM but when I swung through again shortly after 1:30 PM, there he was with his swarm of supporters, er, buddy.  And they weren't waving.

In what passed more for a sign (two) vigil that was oddly marked by the grimaces and scowls that Wagner and his cohort cast at passing motorists and pedestrians, I was amazed by the whole gloominess of the event.

 By the time I could find parking and returned at about 1:45 PM, Wagner and his bud had scooted, more than an hour and a quarter early.  Maybe it was because, from what I observed, they got totally ignored by residents, who no doubt remembered that when they'd identified a community need and had met the challenge by raising the funds locally, and not at the state teat as he has, he shit all over their efforts at the opening of the Cross Street bridge in 2010.

I did manage to get one person at the corner to memorialize my attendance but, as can be seen, no Wagner.

When Wagner has campaigned this year, both in person and online, it's been as possibly the most negative of the minuscule, non-party candidates that's ever reared its/his nasty head.  He's even invoked the name of George Aiken in his campaign material:

"... as did George Aiken: local solutions first."

Whether he was focusing on local energy or local infrastructure, Aiken never would have embraced the likes of Wagner.  Aiken never was a secessionist nor could it be inferred from anything he ever said that he would have been.  He was a Republican (old school) who served in the United States Senate for 34 years.  Those of us who lived here when "the Governor" was alive know exactly what he'd think of Wagner's secessionist, neo-Georgist/Marxist, crybaby campaign.  Wagner had better hope that Lola Aiken never finds out that he's drafted her husband into his hateful campaign.

George Aiken, unlike Wagner, served Vermont first at the local level, then in the multiple state and federal offices.  Wagner, who after his failed attempt at inserting a secesher poison pill ordinance at this year's Ripton Town Meeting, hasn't attended a single select board meeting; he has no record of public service in any community that he's passed through that I can find.  No, but he's ready to serve in the Vermont Senate with an economic agenda that accounts for some of the greatest suffering in the last century.  He's claimed to have engineered an effort to replace every member of the Vermont Senate that he's called "The Thirty."  The two remaining dimwits that he'd originally touted didn't make his recent list of candidates that he's endorsed in the past few days - Dexter LeFavour and Dick Tracy for Vermont Senate and Tim Ryan, Ben Eastwood, Teo Zagar and Will Stevens for House - candidates who haven't endorsed back at him or responded to his various FB posts about them on his page or theirs.

Robert Wagner, despite his delusions of grandiosity in Vermont, is no George Aiken.

Post election, I'll have much more on his and the Vermont secession movement's neo-Georgist/Marxist nonsense.  Suffice it to say that at this point the Wagner campaign is done.

WVTK's Addison County Candidates Debate

Port Henry, NY based WVTK, which calls itself "Addison County's Radio Station," is broadcasting a candidates' forum today, Thursday, October 25, 2012, between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM that is being hosted by the Addison County Chamber of Commerce in the Ilsley Library Community Room in Middlebury.

The candidates attending were for Addison County's contested and uncontested races for its two Vermont Senate seats as well as the House Representative seats in the General Assembly for the 2012 election cycle. Due to the number of candidates present WVTK is keeping the group on a tight time schedule.

The first question to the candidates pertained to funding for health care. Each candidate answered on topic except for would be "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner. As he so often does, Robert Wagner pivoted to what he likes to refer to as a "Gund Institute" report or study that has already been shot down in the General Assembly for its unreasonable economic assumptions and prescriptions. The junk economics proposed by this "study" were rejected by governments early in the 20th century. In short, the plan is based on the economics of Henry George, a contemporary and rival of Karl Marx. What Wagner, Gund and the rest of the Georgists propose is nothing less than a mass grab of private property in Vermont on such a scale that it would bring a smile to Joseph Stalin's corpse. As Great Britain found when it began to ease into Georgism in the early 20th century, business investment ceased. That was the end of Georgism in Western Europe. History tells us what confiscatory private property grabs did to the Soviet Union, Maoist China, Nazi Germany, Khmer Cambodia and Cuba, to name only a few - scores of millions died.

By 9:00 AM, Wagner, continued to pivot away from specific questions to ride his various Vermont secession movement hobbyhorses - the "Gund Institute" nonsense; a state bank (an economically unsound idea that has already been dismissed as impractical in the General Assembly); the notion that the Vermont economy is in a complete state of collapse (despite VT's triple A bond rating and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country); an unfunded education plan - and generally sounded like the sole tinfoil hat guy on the room.

Here's Something Odd

It seems that Senator Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner's campaign for one of the two Addison County Vermont State Senate seats has, well, all but disappeared.

Why is that, and why more than a month out from election day? The last muddled post at his Senator (he's never been one) Wagner Facebook page made this unsubstantiated, paranoid claim:

"End war... including the 'war on drugs' in Vermont. The State's marijuana-spotting helicopters, which were unavailable for Hurricane Irene relief, could then be turned to humanitarian purposes such as medevac."

Wagner's campaign website hasn't had a campaign post since August.
The one bit of media coverage that Wagner got this past July was in the way of a profile at the Addison Independent is buried behind the Addy's paywall.

Certainly, Wagner's courting of Vermont's own neo-Confederate supporting secessionist movement, his promoting the seizure of private property, his espousal of Teabagger values and his nasty and negative comments about his opponents hasn't been a winning strategy. Maybe this prolonged campaign silence is some kind of strange, desperate tactic - an October surprise of sorts.

UPDATE, 10/24/12 4:00PM: What a difference a day makes. Apparently the post above roused the-not-ever-likely-to-be Senator Wagner from his months long torpor. This morning he threw up several by now useless posts stating that he's mounting his long awaited door-to-door campaign this week and next week; he re-iterated his support for Addison-2 independent candidate Tim Ryan and made this statement on Ryan's Facebook page:

"Same here; I asked the incumbent (Wagner's Ripton, VT neighbor, Rep. Willem Jewett (D-Addison 2)) to discuss some facts that I had uncovered about Vermont's finances, and to help me get a chance to testify before the House Ways & Means Committee. He kept changing the subject, said he'd get back to me; but never did. Flatlander is as flatlander does."

"Flatlander is as flatlander does?" What an odd derogatory term for a more recent arrival to Vermont as he is, Brooklyn, NY native Robert Wagner, to use. Perhaps more than a little tellingly, the negativity of his support went unanswered by Ryan. I doubt that Ryan is counting on there being much of a "bump" with support from "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner's comments and endorsement. Fact is, in 2010 Jewett received more votes (1595) in his four town representative district than the votes (1128) Wagner got throughout the entirety of the then twenty-four towns of the Addison County senate district; while Jewett swept the vote (257) in their common hometown of Ripton, VT, Wagner only managed to get a handful of votes (37). Figures.

So-called Independent Addison County Senate Candidate, "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner, Tries to Finess the Unions and Addison County Voters

I wasn't very surprised when I saw this post on "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner's rambling Facebook page.  Wagner is the Vermont secession movement's candidate for one of Addison County's Senate seats who poses as an "independent."  Wagner is, in truth, a committed, hardcore secesher who, beyond having said that one Addison County resident "needed killin'", hates the Union, Vermont's governmental institutions, virtually all statewide office holders and the legislative community (people who have been elected by their neighbors to serve in a variety of offices, something Wagner has never done), private property and assets, as well as all of the Vermont school system

Typically, the not ever likely to be "Senator" Wagner doesn't tell the whole truth, much like when he gave his position on education to the Addison Independent during his decidedly failed 2010 run for the Vermont Senate here.

You can find what Wagner really thinks by going through the archives of the Vermont secession movement's super secret "Free Vermont" listserv, a place where the seceshers chatted unguardedly since they thought Vermonters wouldn't find them out.  At the time of this beaut, Wagner was using one of his pseudonyms on the listserv, Roderick Sticomythia; it comes from his "Position Papers 8. Education":

"This won't make me any friends, but I am against public education. It is a bad idea and a drain on community wealth, and it should be abolished. The large central schools which require mass driving and busing should be re-purposed; perhaps as shelters to house the suburbanites whose single-family homes in the sprawl will become worthless without affordable fuel to get there and back."

"I am in favour of a return to small community-based and community-run schools, the smaller the better. Children need to be able to walk to school or be a short enough distance to make the trip economically feasible in post-peak-oil Vermont."

"I am against government-imposed standards of any kind, whether they be directed at the classroom, at the administration, or at the physical building itself. Montpelier has far exceeded its authority in the extension of standards into schools; first consolidating schools into large districts and closing down the small schoolhouses, and then failing to block US standards such as 'No Child Left Behind' and 'Race to the Top'. It all ends here and now."

"Government may not impose standards; however, Vermont's children lag behind the rest of the world in many areas. We should be providing tools and funds for schools to re-introduct(sic) young Vermonters to the rest of the world; through cultural exchange, language learning, the metric system, and many other areas. This is where public investment draws huge dividends."

Naturally, there was no objection from Wagner/Sticomythia or any of the other secesher boneheads on the thread to Denny's design to hide what they intended until they were elected.  Wagner is right about one thing though, he's not going to be making any friends by opposing public education.  No wonder he hid his position at the secret listserv rather than tell the press or put it on his websites during his 2010 run or this go around by him for 2012.  Figures.

Tomorrow's the Day

Radical America bashing will be the theme for the day, interspersed with outlandish claims that this group of angry outsiders, each of whom is more unaccomplished, inexperienced and incompetent at governing than the next, is the only collection of malcontents who can properly lead Vermonters into a secessionist future. Problem is, Vermonters aren't interested in going there, and especially not with these clowns.

Never mind that they've lied to Vermonters repeatedly about the real support for their group, which they've claimed to be as much as 18%, when in fact more than 99.24% of Vermonters voted for someone other than their angry, Che Guervara embracing, middle finger waving gubernatorial candidate, Connecticut native Dennis Steele. Never mind that during their 2010 campaign they hid from Vermonters some of their beliefs and intentions. For example, Senator Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner would have Vermont join the South and the Mountain West in becoming a right to work state, thus undermining union effectiveness, and has said so on one of those out-of-state candidate's position sites that he so fond of. Wagner's ravings include this conspiratorial beaut:

"4. Do you know what Agenda 21/Sustainable Development and the Communitarian agenda is? Do you support it? Why or why not?"
"I consider it one of the gravest threats to our livelihoods and freedoms so far this Century, and I am fighting it tooth and nail in Vermont. There is a LOT of money flowing into tiny Vermont to support Agenda 21, going into ‘programs’ to catalog, file, stamp, assess and control Vermont’s agriculture…"

"The battle continues. That’s what I think of Agenda 21."

Wagner's friend, the virulent anti-Semite, Dennis Morrisseau, had this to say when he thought Vermonters wouldn't be gaining access to the super-secret secesher Free Vermont listserv where the seceshers chatted about their various power fantasies and conspiracy theories:

“(I)f we provoke the T(eacher)'s Unions too early in our campaign they will be a HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS.....AND A VERY BIG BLOCKING FORCE. This is one of the few places where i might want us to hold our punches until later...”

Free Vermont listserv, December 14, 2009

For those who don't know, this blog got started by exposing the Second Vermont Republic and its leadership's strong ties to the racist League of the South. As recently as last year the Vermont Commons publisher and former SVR co-chair, Rob Williams, contributed an essay to a book edited by a founder of the League of the South; SVR's founder, Thomas H. Naylor, made sounds of disapproval of the racism at LoS that had been apparent to everyone but him up to that point but he did not formally sever ties with LoS, even when LoS's president, Michael Hill, openly declared his and the League's blatant formalization of its racism this past spring. A presenter at tomorrow's sideshow will be Kirkpatrick Sale, a South Carolina delegate to the Southern National Congress, a group made up of many League of the South members like its vice-chairman, Louisiana LoS chairman Mark A. Thomey. Good to see that the racist elements from the South are to be so ably represented by Sale. It should dovetail nicely with the racist proposal that Sale, Naylor and two other old white guys will seek to have the Vermonters present at their dog and pony show formally adopt as an element of yet another of their incessant manifestos and/or declarations. Conspiracy Theories Will Abound at Secessionists Independence Party in Montpelier This Friday

For years the websites of Vermont secession types have been rife with a whole range of conspiracy theories, some better known than others.

One secesher blogger got his panties in a knot over the Burlington bike path because he saw a UN agency community sustainability, non-binding initiative, regarding the bike path program as the tip of the spear of a diabolical plan to takeover the U.S. or some other New World Order crap; the same blogger promoted sovereign citizens legal mumbo jumbo, but I believe that his Vermont Commons blog is now on extended hiatus. Go figure. A Vermont secesher Senate candidate, Senator Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner, has written just this past spring about the discredited Teabagger inspired conspiracy theory,

"I have been tracking 800+ bills in the Vermont Legislature introduced or held over in the past year… most of them meddlesome, many of them written with Agenda 21 in mind."

Smart meters and vaccinces are all part and parcel of the vast U.N. Agenda 21 plot to control and even end our lives according to the conspiratoids.

A past Washington County secesher Senate candidate and announced presenter for the Vermont Secesher Independence Party, Gaelan Brown, who calls his VTCommons blog "The Energy Optimist" is a prime example of the nutbar, conspiracist thinking that abounds in the group, and, oh, he's hardly an optimist. Delusionist would be more accurate. This self proposed "Minister of Commerce and Energy" of the secesher republic predicted a 90% vote turnout for the secesher gubernatorial candidate, Connecticut native Dennis Steele, in the NEK. Hell, Steele only got 5 votes in the town where at the moment he resided, and garnered barely .76% statewide.

Even more bizarre, Brown, the "Energy Optimist" has said two years ago that,

"Personally I believe that it's likely that NASA has been collaborating with beings from other planets to mine the dark side of the moon in exchange for them giving us some of their technology."

"I've seen unexplainable UFOs several times and I know a man who works for Carlisle who says there is heavy investment going on re infrastructure to mine the moon for titanium, H3 (nuclear fuel), and other minerals that are rare on earth. I have also studied the chem.-trail and HARPP systems/history and there's a lot of sketchy activity in this category as well."

"But I'm not going to focus on these issues in my campaign. Vt independence is enough of a reach without pushing people on issues that they'll never grasp."

Sure, Gaelan, whatever.

And then there are the Jews. The Second Vermont Republic founder Thomas H. Naylor claims that they control the U.S. government and his toady, the editor of VTCommons Rob Williams says that he agrees with Naylor. The non-existent SVR's Very Foreign Minister, Dennis Morrisseau proposes creating a hit list for Jews. My question would be is the conspiracy junk and hit list creepiness about national Jews or Vermont Jews? Some clarity on that point might assist law enforcement threat focus. Maybe Rob & Thomas & Denny & whoever will clarify at their KKKonfab on Friday. I'll try to record their remarks to post here.

Of course, there's the 9/11 Truther nonsense promoted by Morrisseau, Williams and others in the nut bowl, running the range from a Jew conspiracy to take down the twin towers, to a U.S. government plot for same, all of which relies upon the work utterly discredited, (now what do they call themselves?) oh right, "scholars."

Followers of this blog may remember this vid but as we come upon the boatload of crazy that will surely occur on Friday, this is more than apt, after all, we must protect ourselves from the conspiracy to rob us of our precious bodily fluids.

"Senator" Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner Chats About Campaigns Past and Present

Senator Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner, Vermont secessionist candidate for one of Addison County's senate seats, likes to maintain a big, restricted (as in the old 30s, 40s and 50s meaning of the term as it applies to Jews) tent on his Facebook page.

I found this gem of a chat from his 2010 campaign in his Facebook photo album:


Is Wagner an anti-Semite like his secesher allies who post articles from known anti-Semites at their websites Second Vermont Republic and Vermont Commons where Wagner also maintains a tad unhinged blog? Certainly responding to an obviously anti-Semitic remark about the "Jew Mafia" uncritically has to make one think that Wagner is courting such support and, perhaps, more than a little sympathetic himself to the notion that Jews operate like a criminal enterprise that controls courts, the government and media.

Now, as if to show that his delusions about elections haven't progress much beyond the muddled state that they were in two years ago, here's the most recent post from his Facebook page today:


On the world where Wagner lives it's of no importance that Vermont legislators have no legal authority, nor can they assert same, over Vermont Army and Air National Guard assignments. Wagner sees politics as a game where the greatest ape who beats his chest hardest prevails.

Given that Sen. Claire Ayer (D-Addison) has been the number one vote getter for years and that Wagner seems only to be capable of locking up the 4% of drooling idiots who mistake bluster for competence, it'll be interesting to see what this year's results look like. Wagner may do a little better since there is no Republican in the race thus far and some Republicans can't ever vote for a Democrat, whether it be Sen. Ayer or her fellow Dem in the race, former Rep. Chris Bray. But we do know that Republicans will vote for idiots (read: Bush), so Wagner may pick up a few votes there. That is, unless the Republicans learn that Wagner backs an economic policy based on the confiscatory Henry George/Karl Marx model. Wagner's plans for private property in Vermont make Stalin's own actions look benign.

And, of course, Wagner's statement about his neighbor, Rep. Willem Jewett (D-Ripton), is utterly nonsensical in that Rep. Jewett is running unopposed in 2012. Maybe Wagner'll get a few people to write in his name for representative in the August 28 Republican primary for representative from Ripton. Why not? His sole secessionist running mate from up in Franklin County, Peter Moss, is also running for the U.S. Senate in addition to the Vermont Senate. Wagner wouldn't have a chance of winning either the senate or the representative seats but it'd sure give him a practical gauge of what his Ripton neighbors think of his nutty economics.

Meanwhile, in another matter related to Wagner's conflicting positions, there's been no word yet about whether Wagner will be returning the $288.30 Federal subsidy he received while flying out of the airport in Rutland, VT, which is exactly the kind of Federal subsidy that he "is strongly opposed to" and has argued harms Vermonters that I revealed he'd hypocritically availed himself of (as in sticking his snout in the federal money trough) here. Wagner must publicly give back that subsidy money or he'll be exposed for the hypocritical fraud that many of us Vermonters know him to be.

"Senator" Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner Is Giddy Over Some Liberty Party Primary Wins

Thing is that these Teabagger types ran mostly as Republicans and not as the Liberty Party candidates described by the not-yet-Senator Robert "Needed Killin' " Wagner in his Facebook post:


The so-called Liberty Party is a Ron Paul political devolution into irrevelance posing as a party structure but that is really just all about the boss.

A reader of this blog who pointed Wagner's Facebook post out to me (and who has a track record of very interesting Facebook finds this year) was as struck as I am to find "the bar for "mainstream" to be (so) low and amusing." Oddly, we hear nothing now from Wagner about the thirty Vermont Senate candidates he claimed that he would be sheparding to victory in 2012 and instead he's wetting his pants over four very out of state campaigns.

For instance, one of the winners, and they truly all are, is Kerry Bentivolio who ran in a Michigan Republican primary for a U.S. House seat. His Republican opponent labeled him 'Krazy Kerry' and the MI GOP has all but written off the seat in this election. One of Wagner's other fringers who grabbed a spot on the Republican ticket in Missouri, Robyn Hamlin, is running against a Democrat who creamed her in their last head-to-head by getting 73.6% of the vote. Like Wagner she seems to have a thing for repeatedly getting her ass kicked hard.

Another Missouri Liberty Paultard candidate who "won," Cynthia Davis, was unopposed in the Constitution Party primary. For those of unfamiliar with the Constitution Party, just take the main highway out to the fringe and when you get there go a few miles further and collect your party hat. The Constitution Party has had a long association with racists Pat Buchanan and Tom Tancredo, as well as with militia types and nutjobs like Alan Keyes.

The fourth "winner" is a nobody like Wagner who has never bothered to serve in some local elective office and who has about as much chance to win as Wagner.

You'd think that Wagner might have picked up an idea in all of this, like running in the August 28 Addison County Republican primary as a write-in. No one else is running so how could he lose?

UPDATE Saturday, 12:01 AM:. It has been quite correctly noted that "Senator" Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner claimed that "Liberty candidates took FOUR (ALL CAPS Wagner's) seats in yesterday's primaries!!!!". Fact is that these Paultard clowns have taken no seats. Makes one wonder how stupid Wagner intends to get in 2012. Well, actually it's looking to be pretty stupid and paranoid but that'll be in my next post about the Wagner deluge.
