EXCLUSIVE: Vermont Secessionist Pol Says "Vermont Independence Is Pretty Much A Joke"

No, even though I've been saying something similar about the Vermont secession movement for years, I didn't say it in quite those words and although I've heard it said by many non-secessionists over the years this is the first time I've heard that sentiment expressed by a secesher deadender. That honor goes to the Vermont secesher 2010 Washington County senatorial candidate who was also an invited member of the highly secret Free Vermont listserv. There he opined that errant legislators should suffer capital punishment for their legislative transgressions; that NASA was conspiring with aliens to receive advanced technology in exchange for raw materials on the dark side of the Moon; that chemtrails (contrails) are a secret concoction of gubmint mind control chemicals spread for maximum effect from aircraft at 30,000 ft. - no, really; and that he should be Minister of Agriculture or some such nonsense in the future Second Vermont Republic. That's right, the person who dissed the "VT independence" movement on the 2014 Vermont secesher Secretary of State candidate's Facebook page is none other than Gaelan Brown. And if anyone should know the true state of affairs with the "VT independence" movement it's certainly Brown, a lapdog of the remnants of the SVR leadership.

All of the mainstays of the 2010 campaign, including the ones who said that they'd run in 2014, have bailed and earlier this year one of them takes a big dump on the movement as a whole. So who does that leave in the movement, Rob Williams? He can't even find his way out the mess he's made by not renouncing and denouncing the newly invigorated, if ineffectual, racist League of the South. With the stalwarts walking away and/or pissing on the notion of Vermont secession, it's safe to say that the show is over and the only one who doesn't seem to get that is Williams, the onetime co-chairman with the now quite dead Thomas H. Naylor and who with Naylor convened a meeting at which he invited out of state racist and homophobic hate groups to Burlingtoon, VT, and who is the current self annointed new baas of the remains of the Second Vermont Republic and the unchallenged Minister of Second Vermont Republic Secessionist Fuckweaselry.

Brown is right; what a joke.

Vermont Secessionist Losers and Their Trail of Broken Political Promises and Bullshit

"Never give up, Never give in, Never surrender"

With those words, two time loser for an Addison county Vermont state senate seat, closed his 2012 campaign, seemingly promising to rise again from its ashes to wage another fruitless campaign. He even immediately renamed his Facebook page, "Robert Wagner for Vermont Senate 2014" where on March 13, 2013 he wrote,

"I remain your candidate..."

Well, maybe not so much. That was the last thing he's posted on the matter. More than a year later, June's 2014 filing date for independent Senate candidates came and went with no petition submitted by Wagner. Even his "Senator Wagner" website has gone dark.

Likewise, Wagner's self-described "friend," the proudly misogynist and the inveterate anti-Semite at Rob Williams' hate blog, Dennis "Hit List" Morrisseau, also failed to register for an independent run for a Rutland county Vermont Senate seat but he still has a 2014 campaign website. Go figure.

Morrisseau was the architect of plan to replace each and every one of Vermont's senate incumbents with secesher Kool-Aid drinkers. I guess that's now on hold too.

In a fashion similar to Wagner's, Vermont's 2010 secesher gubernatorial candidate Dennis Steele, while acknowledging that more than 99% of Vermonters voted for someone else, pledged,

"Today represents a beginning, not an end. When I agreed to take on the difficult and exhausting task of running for Governor as an independent this year, I did so with the hopes that my actions would serve to help lay the foundations for a robust, grass-roots movement that will carry the message of a Free Vermont forward. Towards that end, I’ve been collaborating with several supporters to found a democratic, state-wide organization. Dedicated to spreading the ideas of Vermont Independence, providing support for Independence-minded candidates for public office, and organizing volunteer activities that both serve our neighbors and help lessen our communities’ dependence on the Federal Government, it will serve as our movement’s new center and engine of growth. It will be organized by county, and I encourage anyone who supported my campaign to get involved in their county committee."

And since then no one has heard shit from Dennis Steele. According to one published report, it indicates that he's presently engaged in peddling an addictive and possibly carcinogenic substance in the NEK. So much for "serv(ing)... neighbors" and reducing "dependence," eh?

After their miserable showing in 2010, the seceshers declared their "independence" and established a provisional capital in the sparsely populated central Vermont town of Hancock. Most of the VT secesher movement's luminaries attended the convening session of their, uh, congress - their hate blog publisher, Rob; Gary "The Rocket Scientist and Public Bankster" Flomenhoft; Matt "Never Won An Election Yet" Cropp; you know, the usual suspects.

A promised run by a Fairfax, VT secesher insider has also failed to materialize. Secesher outliers like "Terry" Jeroloman, Gus Jaccaci, James Merriman and Gaelan "Aliens-NASA Conspiracy on the Dark Side of the Moon" Brown are again sitting this election cycle out.

The fact is that the only secession supporters left running are kooks like Ben Eastwood, Emily Peyton and Peter Diamondstone (who raised secession in a debate with Bernie Sanders in 2012), and there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that any one of them will eke out more than a low single or fractional digit electoral result.

It's beginning to look more and more like Thomas Naylor's dream of an independent white homeland called the Second Vermont Republic or Novacadia or some such nonsense, is nearly as dead as he is.

Conspiracy Theories Will Abound at Secessionists Independence Party in Montpelier This Friday

For years the websites of Vermont secession types have been rife with a whole range of conspiracy theories, some better known than others.

One secesher blogger got his panties in a knot over the Burlington bike path because he saw a UN agency community sustainability, non-binding initiative, regarding the bike path program as the tip of the spear of a diabolical plan to takeover the U.S. or some other New World Order crap; the same blogger promoted sovereign citizens legal mumbo jumbo, but I believe that his Vermont Commons blog is now on extended hiatus. Go figure. A Vermont secesher Senate candidate, Senator Robert "Needed Killin'" Wagner, has written just this past spring about the discredited Teabagger inspired conspiracy theory,

"I have been tracking 800+ bills in the Vermont Legislature introduced or held over in the past year… most of them meddlesome, many of them written with Agenda 21 in mind."

Smart meters and vaccinces are all part and parcel of the vast U.N. Agenda 21 plot to control and even end our lives according to the conspiratoids.

A past Washington County secesher Senate candidate and announced presenter for the Vermont Secesher Independence Party, Gaelan Brown, who calls his VTCommons blog "The Energy Optimist" is a prime example of the nutbar, conspiracist thinking that abounds in the group, and, oh, he's hardly an optimist. Delusionist would be more accurate. This self proposed "Minister of Commerce and Energy" of the secesher republic predicted a 90% vote turnout for the secesher gubernatorial candidate, Connecticut native Dennis Steele, in the NEK. Hell, Steele only got 5 votes in the town where at the moment he resided, and garnered barely .76% statewide.

Even more bizarre, Brown, the "Energy Optimist" has said two years ago that,

"Personally I believe that it's likely that NASA has been collaborating with beings from other planets to mine the dark side of the moon in exchange for them giving us some of their technology."

"I've seen unexplainable UFOs several times and I know a man who works for Carlisle who says there is heavy investment going on re infrastructure to mine the moon for titanium, H3 (nuclear fuel), and other minerals that are rare on earth. I have also studied the chem.-trail and HARPP systems/history and there's a lot of sketchy activity in this category as well."

"But I'm not going to focus on these issues in my campaign. Vt independence is enough of a reach without pushing people on issues that they'll never grasp."

Sure, Gaelan, whatever.

And then there are the Jews. The Second Vermont Republic founder Thomas H. Naylor claims that they control the U.S. government and his toady, the editor of VTCommons Rob Williams says that he agrees with Naylor. The non-existent SVR's Very Foreign Minister, Dennis Morrisseau proposes creating a hit list for Jews. My question would be is the conspiracy junk and hit list creepiness about national Jews or Vermont Jews? Some clarity on that point might assist law enforcement threat focus. Maybe Rob & Thomas & Denny & whoever will clarify at their KKKonfab on Friday. I'll try to record their remarks to post here.

Of course, there's the 9/11 Truther nonsense promoted by Morrisseau, Williams and others in the nut bowl, running the range from a Jew conspiracy to take down the twin towers, to a U.S. government plot for same, all of which relies upon the work utterly discredited, (now what do they call themselves?) oh right, "scholars."

Followers of this blog may remember this vid but as we come upon the boatload of crazy that will surely occur on Friday, this is more than apt, after all, we must protect ourselves from the conspiracy to rob us of our precious bodily fluids.

Eye On "The 30" - Their Senate Campaigns Are To Be Buttressed With Sappy Glurges

After running two of the most lackluster, over-the-line stoopid campaigns for the Vermont Senate in 2010, the neo-Confederacy of Dunces comprised of "Senator" Robert Wagner (Addison-I) and the Second Vermont Republic's "Very Foreign Minister", Dennis Morriseau (Rutland-I), apparently think that a mawkish strategy based on sheer bullshit about the past is now the way to go.

Their distorted view of the 1960s is so appealing to these two secesher Mad Men that Denny passed along an urban legend, commonly called a "glurge," that's been getting chain emailed everywhere during the past six months. It's about recycling and such, and is called "The Green Thing." The "Senator" asked for the author of the original email chain letter to contact him so he could provide attribution for the piece. This one is so new that Snopes.com hasn't written about it yet but already, as the "Senator" could have easily found for himself, you get 230,000 hits for "The Green Thing."

Email chain letters like "The Green Thing" often have a sappy ring of truth to them that ignores the reality of such times. The "Senator" goes so far as to suggest that court ordered reapportionment in the 1960s, designed to eliminate disproportionate control of the legislature by small towns, was a bad thing and mistakenly suggests that it was the legislature that "usurp(ed) the authority of Town Meeting." No, "Senator." It was as a result of a "one person, one vote" ruling and order from the federal court in Buckley v. Hoff (1964) that the stranglehold of small towns like Ripton, VT on the legislature was eliminated.

Some of the other cool things that the "Senator" and Denny have forgotten or misremembered about the 1960s that don't get a mention in "The Green Thing" are: both Kennedys, Malcom X and the King assassinations; anti-miscegenation laws to protect against race mixing, something that at least one major SVR financial supporter, James Duncan, has a problem with even today; Jim Crow Laws; riots everywhere, from Detroit to Stonewall; the treatment of women (more on that below); ramping up the Vietnam War; raw sewage being piped directly from individual homes and businesses into Vermont's streams and rivers, as well as untreated waste and industrial chemicals, so much so that in many areas the streams and rivers had ecological "dead zones"; lesbians and gays being legally proscribed and medically defined as mentally ill; job and housing discrimination was legal; poll taxes; "Hey Jude"; the Voting Rights Act (the "debt crisis" political fight of its day); and, smokers were everywhere. Good times, eh guys?

Regarding women, it appears that Denny's views about them haven't evolved much since the 1960s. On February 16 of 2010, as he became aware that Anne Galloway at VTDigger was not going to agree to publish promotional material on behalf of the views of the "Very Foreign Minister" of the Second Vermont Republic, he wrote in that ALL CAPS way of his of her publication:

"WITH OUT A DOUBT, Digger is excrescence of CIA.......
Still....we gotta use the MAN'S media to extent that we can.
While biulding(sic) our own internal and external communications..."

On May 27, Denny wrote in response to a sexist nickname used by the "Senator" who had referred to Galloway as "VT GoldDigger":

"The Lady is CIA, and if she wants to sue me for the remark, she is welcome to."

On May 30, VTCommons publisher/editor Rob Williams chimed in about Galloway:

"CIA spook that she is..."

In a later exchange on June 1, between the "Senator" (who complained that his pithy comments were being deleted from VTDigger) and VTCommons publisher Rob Williams, Williams wrote something that explains the lack of any objective quality at his propaganda rag:

"Most reporters regurgitate press release as "fact," and call it objective journalism, friends."
"When they dare to have an opinion, they put it on the OP/ED pages."
"It ain't right, and we need to challenge it (as everything else...)"

Following in his "she's-a-CIA-operative" theme, Morrisseau responded about Anne Galloway:

"a sycophant or sucking for a job......or earning her little stipend now......What's the difference?"
"Spooks come in many varieties as do the rest of us.

But this tone had been set back on February 16 when Morrisseau wrote of how to handle VT Digger publisher, Anne Galloway:

"We will seduce her."

To which James Duncan, the racist and homophobic contributor to Dennis Steele's campaign responded:

"You are such a womanizer Denni."

But the real Morrisseau, vis-à-vis how he today sees a professional journalist who happens to be a woman, shines through in this comment to the rest of what Dixie singing Thomas Naylor likes to call his "Internet cowboys":

"Because I savaged her in our first few exchanges."
"Now I am making nice. And she likes that better. So she is liking me better......"
"Before I punched her, she did not know me or care a fig........"
"Now she sees I can laugh, I am playful....possibly intelligent...and I differ with her........"
"She begins to be intrigued."
"We have to be lovers to these sorts...... I know that is a little crass....but it's DO OR DIE time."

And so on May 28, under the subject line, "I've had enough of Galloway. VT GoldDigger" Morrisseau wrote:

"No reason for her to breathe OR DO WHAT SHE DOES.....unless she is a SPOOK."
"NOBOCY(sic) is that venal from stupidity."

To date, not one of Naylor's "Internet cowboys" who were active recipients on the secesher listserv has made any public statement condemning Morrisseau's outrageous, violence laced, sexist diatribes. Not the publisher of VTCommons, Rob Williams; nor Washington Senate candidate Gaelan Brown; nor educator & rocket scientist Gary Flomenhoft; nor the very strange Franklin County perennial loser, Peter Moss; nor homophobe and racist bigot James Duncan; nor the failed lite guv candidate, and now the present day candidate for a Chittenden County Senate seat, Peter Garritano; nor, of course, Morrisseau's self-described "friend," Addison County's Senate wannabe, "Senator" Robert Wagner.

Unless the secesher boys club take steps to address their indisputable sexism problem, they are destined for another round of exceptionally failed electoral campaigns. No doubt that VTCommons' anti-Semitic blogger and sometimes ardent feminist when it suits her agenda, Carol Moore, will be taking the boys club to task over their vile, long-running wallow in misogyny - yeah, right.

SVR's Dennis Steele's Campaign Is Clearly in Nowhereland in New Poll

Last month the first poll that gave the public a sense of the state of the post primary gubernatorial race told us that things aren't quite as Thomas Naylor, baas of the Second Vermont Republic would have us believe.

For years Naylor has been touting his commissioned polls from UVM's Center for Rural Studies that used a highly suspect methodology to get results that he's claimed show that 8% (2006), then 13% (2007) and then later 11.5% (2008) of Vermonters eligible to vote would support Vermont secession. (see section on Naylor's polls in the column to the right → ) Has he a newer poll for 2009 or 2010 that shows a continuance of that downward drift? He's not saying.

Factoring in the margin for error, Naylor's "polls" that he's released would seem to indicate that somewhere between 10-15% of Vermont's eligible voters at some time supported secession, and whose actual numbers he at various times has "extrapolated" to be 50,000 to 60,000 of Vermont's voters. His claims to that level of support for his daffy ideas about Vermont secession and his ongoing war of words against an "Israeli Mafia" are truly unsupportable.

In the meantime, according to one poll taken a month ago,

"The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey shows Shumlin, the state Senate president pro tempore, picking up 49% of the vote, while Dubie draws support from 46%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided."

That's a far cry from Naylor's projections but in this poll there was no specific mention of Connecticut native Dennis Steele.

So far, every previous electoral attempt in Vermont by the seceshers, real or imagined, has failed miserably. Despite that well known fact, Steele's been making absurd claims of winning in debates where he's repeatedly duck important questions.

Last November, according to a post at the Free Vermont listserv by secesher Gaelan Brown, Dennis Steele said that he's been rejected by his community because of his talk of secession:

"... (I)n Kirby... you've said repeatedly that you've lost a lot of credibility ("shunned" is the word you've used, I believe) in your town as a result of your public secession-talk."

Now comes the VPR Vermont Poll with some even worse news for the secessionistas.

"The poll also finds that the five other candidates in the race for governor got about one percent support each."

A whooping 1%!! of support, give or take (but my money's on take). Odum predicted the five way split last night. It looks like Steele's Kirby neighbors have got his number, too. For those who follow gubernatorial races here in Vermont, it's well known that even a stray cat that gathers the five hundred signatures required to get on the ballot can get one percent. 20 years ago one candidate in a gubernatorial debate was televised doing beadwork while reportedly off his meds, and he got 1½%!

We'll get solid poll results come this November 2.

Update 1:34 PM: Apparently still reeling from poll results released 6 hours ago, the self-styled media expert, propaganda minister for the Free Vermont crowd and honcho-in-chief for "Vermont Commons", Rob "I Can't Believe This Is Happening Again" Williams, churns a week old debate post (you remember, the one Dennis Steele claims that he won) with a dead video link in lieu of anything on his candidates (Lt Guv wannabe Garritano bit the bag, too) abysmal showing in the VPR Vermont Poll hours before his post.

Here's an idea for Rob-o. He can hype the results as showing that his boys are closing in. Remember, Rob-o, based on their performance thus far, the only way is up!

The Free Vermont/VTCommons/SVR "Hidey Hole"

In case you've been following the recent drama going on with that clusterf*ck known as the Free Vermont stable of independent secessionist candidates, such as Connecticut native, Dennis Steele, Senatorial candidates Robert Wagner, Gaelan Brown, Dennis Morrisseau, et al, John Odum outs what I've been referring to as "The Source" today over at Green Mountain Daily in this post.

It's got a lot of the crazy that the Hohe Propagandaminister, Rob Williams, and the Great White Father, Thomas Naylor, of the Second Vermont Realm, would rather you didn't know permeates their slate of candidates. No surprise that misogyny is alive and well at the boys club/tree house/"safe space"/clown car known as the Free Vermont Framework Listserv.

Well worth the read and really quite "seduc(tive)."

Update October 4, 2010: Sometime last evening the Free Vermont listserv was either taken down or blocked.

According to one of the participants at the listserv, engaging in authoritarian, ruritanian fantasies that are laced with occasions of unconfronted misogyny, compounded by violent imagery, should be considered merely an occurence of "brainstorming ideas."

Right. Good luck with that explanation, Gaelan Brown. My question then would be, why are you guys who would lead a future Vermont now hiding your "brainstorming" considerations to de-unionize the teachers, seize private assets, create a new capital crime (that of lying by a legislator), a universal conscription (draft), a population cap, the Israeli Mafia... oh, I think I've gotten the answer to that now for myself.
