One Thing You Can Count On Is That Vermont Secession Losers Will Sidle Up To Their Anti-Semitic Allies Trough To Get Their Own Fill Of The Swill

Gary Flomenhoft, a purveyor of pissant Vermont constitutional interpretation and apologist for racialistic excuses from Vermont secessionist boneheads like Rob Williams continues to make an idiot of himself.

For those who may not have heard, Flomenhoft was the secesher wizard who came up with the idea of "reconstituting" a previously (like a hundred and fifty or so years ago) elected agency by appointing secesher nut bars like Robert Wagner, Dennis Morrisseau and (insert favorite diety here) knows whatever asshole to his magical Council of Censors. These guys are the secesher mind trust that are going to bring up on charges every friggin' member of the Senate or Legislature that don't see things through their bizzaro world lens. One of these secesher "Internet cowboys" even went so far as to argue for making a capital crime (as in death sentence) for what was formerly an ethical violation. I've had the misfortune to have read page after page of Team Flomenhoft's giddy anticipation of what real power would permit them to do to their fellow Vermonters here.

Normally I'd provide numerous links to revelations of these past exploits of the secession Musketeers but it's all growing so incredibly tiresome.

Flomenhoft, a real-life rocket scientist, is also a peddler of junk economics that have zero chance of making it with the legislators, Vermont businesses or Vermonters in general. Flomenhoft and his pal, the not-ever-going-to-be "Senator" Robert Wagner, intend to propose radical new taxes on Vermonters that'll cripple families and businesses based on a model once implemented in the early 20th century by Britain with disastrous results that led to its abandonment in a very few years, and which was adopted as "collectivisation" under the virulently anti-Semitic Joseph Stalin and which eventually cost millions of Soviet lives.

So why would it come as little surprise that Flomenhoft would recently post at Williams' secesher blog haven this dumb analysis of the world at war. You see, in Flomenhoft's concise worldview, all things bad are American in origin. And if it takes going to a world-class anti-Semite like Paul Craig Roberts to scoop up your garbage, well, hell why not? Paul Craig Roberts' website is where the non-existent Second Vermont Repubic's "VERY (ALL CAPS his) Foreign Minister" Dennis Morrisseau proposed his hit list for Jews he'd like to be rid of here. You can learn more about Flomenhoft's bottom feeding source here.

Now I could probably make some snarky comment about when will Flomenhoft, Williams, (who has his own problems with intemperate remarks regarding his issues with those who rightly object to anti-Semitism and thinly argued racist apologia) their neo-Confederate and white supremacist, League of the South ally, Thomas J. DiLorenzo, and the rest of the clowns who recently collaborated on a dopey secessionist essay montage (see this paragraph's link) be coming out with their analysis on Jewish domination of the U.S. government, world banking, the Intertubes and the greeting card industry but that'd be too easy.

Let's just say that Flomenhoft's "commentary" provides ample proof that these idiots are going nowhere... ever.

"Needed Killin' " Revisited

The reaction to my revealing last week that the announced Vermont secessionist senatorial candidate for one of the Addison County seats, Robert Wagner, has been pretty much as expected. A few emails expressing outrage or wonderment from readers, some of whom would just as soon not have their names connected to Wagner's tasteless Facebook chat, and no walkback whatsoever from the remarks made a week ago that giddily proclaimed that an African-American woman "Needed killing' " by either the originator, Robert Wagner, or his seeming admirerer, Ripton resident Robin Blair Lewis.

Oh, there were a few tentative FB page security adjustments but nothing that dealt with the substance of what was said, nor has Wagner explained why he'd made no such comment about a similar, somewhat contemporaneous robbery story where the perpetrator was white.

Vermont seceshers have been afflicted with an ongoing tone deafness when it comes to matters having to do with race, from their numerous associations with out of state, white supremacist organizations and campaign contributors, to insensitive remarks by a secesher leader that it really isn't any of his "damn business" that a close associate might be a leader of a racist group, to repeatedly racist, extreme policy positions pertaining to the Middle East, as well as an unremitting intellectual (or as they prefer to call it, "scholarly") inbreeding that's created a surprising lack of awareness as to how they are seen by Vermonters.

Wagner needs to be aware that the racist undercurrent to his comment, when contrasted to his lack of commentary about a similar situation where the criminal was white, isn't going away.

Vermonters don't care for racist ideologues, particularly the surreptitious kind, and his inconsistencies will likely dog him through to November 6.

Meanwhile, in another matter related to Wagner's conflicting positions, there's been no word yet about whether Wagner will be returning the $288.30 subsidy he received while flying out of the airport in Rutland, VT, which is exactly the kind of subsidy that he "is strongly opposed to" and has argued harms Vermonters that I revealed he'd hypocritically availed himself of (as in sticking his snout in the federal money trough) here. Wagner must publicly give back that subsidy money or he'll be exposed for the hypocritical fraud that many of us Vermonters know him to be.

Coming soon: Dennis Morrisseau wants to create a hit list.

Addison County's Announced Secessionist Senate Candidate Robert Wagner Says That This Vermonter "Needed Killin' "

By now I've become a bit insulated from how weird Ripton resident and profoundly ineffectual political gadfly Robert Wagner can be. Merely weird would be calling himself "Senator" when he's never been elected to any office; merely weird would be referring to members of Vermont's General Assembly as his "learned colleagues"; merely weird would be railing on and on about the evils of federal subsidies and then taking one for himself on the sly when he thought no one would notice; merely weird would be trying to slip a secession poison pill into an ordinance proposal that sought to bypass both the Planning Commission and the Town Meeting petition process.

Today I found that Robert Wagner had transitioned from merely weird to full on batshit crazy weird.

On one of his several Facebook pages I saw this creepy exchange between him and another Ripton resident, Robin Blair Lewis in a post that he strangely titled "Good News. A Vermonter exonerated for being a Vermonter." The post was about an event that can only be described as a tragedy that occurred at a Vergennes, VT convenience store. (NB: Robin Blair Lewis' FB page and links on Wagner's FB page have fluttered on and off - will update as necessary. 3/21)

That's right, Lewis' response to Wagner's saying that the woman "needed killin' " was,
"NEEDED KILLIN'. Lol, always good to hear other people feel the same way I do."
Lol?

The backstory to this sad affair was that a 34 year old African-American woman with a drug history attempted to rob a convenience store in Vergennes, VT. The store "clerk on duty wrestled a knife away from Sprauve and held her down on the floor. She was unresponsive when police arrived and died on the way to the hospital."

Consistent with state law,
"The medical examiner ruled Sprauve's death a homicide, saying pressure on her chest from Phillips holding her down in combination with acute cocaine intoxication caused her heart to stop."

"Addison County State's Attorney David Fenster says no criminal charges will be brought against Phillips."
Had the woman survived she would have probably faced a potential 15 year sentence for her crime. But, according to the self-declared secessionist candidate for the Addison County senate seat presently held by Claire Ayer (D-Addison) (thus revealing even more about his profound ignorance of Vermont's electoral process) Robert Wagner, Sprauve, a mother of four, "Needed killin'." Much as you'd expect, Wagner's giddy, blood lusting Facebook colleague and neighbor, Robin Blair Lewis, even offers tips for how to deal with those that "(Need) killin'."

Wagner's political mentor, the Magnolia Vermonter and Dixie singin' baas of the moribund Second Vermont Republic said to Boston Globe columnist Alex Beam last year,
"In a left-wing state like Vermont, politics are basically grounded in anger and fear."
In truth it's been Naylor and his "small community" of seceshers that have sought repeatedly to inject anger and fear in Vermont politics.

In 2010, the nutters that comprised the secessionist slate of conspiracy addled, power needy candidates chatted in what they thought was a private listserv about just such things. One, Gaelan Brown, suggested that lying legislators should be charged with a "capital offense" - yeah, that's right, legislators who, according to some secesher asshole have lied, "(need) killin' ." And these are the guys (Wagner & Brown) that Thomas H. Naylor innocently described as his "Internet cowboys."

Hmm, "killin' " drugged moms or lying legislators; is that a slippery slope that Vermonters expect their would be leaders to be advocating on behalf of? And don't forget that Wagner has accused all of Vermont's legislators of stealing from all Vermonters. Is the Vermont State House Sergeant at Arms staff keeping an eye on this guy when he's roaming the building with his backpack of grudges? Just askin'.

And when "Senator" Wagner says that some people "(need) killin'," are he and his allies just sayin' that there are some Vermonters that deserve to be killed? If so, I'd like to hear his list of offenses that he would apply his "needed killin' " standard to besides armed robbers with a drug addiction. Would that also apply to the white, armed with a gun, 20 year old robber who just got 90 days for the stick-up he successfully pulled off in Barre last December?

Robert Wagner Plans to Play a Shell Game at This Coming Monday Night's Town Meeting in Ripton, VT

Wagner's written a ordinance for consideration at Ripton's Town Meeting this coming Monday evening and he says,
"I plan to bring it to my Town Meeting in (formerly bucolic [his words]) Ripton… just watch the sparks fly!"

SOURCE
Great! Wagner's no longer satisfied with bringing his angry attacks and negativity to the electoral process as he's done with his smears of his neighbor, Ripton's representative in the legislature, Rep. Willem Jewett (D-Ripton), and as well as every member of the Vermont legislature - senators and representatives - who he calls "corrupt" and "stealing from" Vermonters. He's going to mix it up in a big way at Ripton's Town Meeting.

There's a process, naturally, that's normally used by proponents of local legislation that's to be considered by the community. You get 5% of the town's voters to sign a petition to the selectboard to have the proposed ordinance placed on the Town Meeting warning. This is a good process for a number of reasons, not the least of which it gives the selectboard opportunity to have town counsel review the legality and constitutionality of the proposed ordinance, as well as having, if approved for the warning, the ordinance published for the benefit of the voters informed consideration. But if you've got a shaky ordinance with aspects that you'd rather people not take too close a look at, the route you do take has a great deal more in common with a shell game than an informative process. You can read Wagner's entire proposal here.

Here's the route that Wagner's chosen to take. Knowing that he'd successfully missed the cutoff for additions to the Ripton Town Meeting Warning, Wagner brought his proposed ordinance to the February 13 Ripton selectboard meeting. This from their minutes of that meeting:
"Robert Wagner attended to discuss an ordinance he proposes to ban smart meter installation in Ripton. His request to include a question about the ordinance came after the deadline for the Town Meeting Warning, and he was encouraged to raise the topic during Article 8: any other business. Smart meters replace existing electric meters and transmit a wireless signal to a utility company. Mr. Wagner opposes smart meter technology because of health and privacy concerns. The health concerns are due to constant, widely broadcast electromagnet- ic signals. The privacy concerns relate to the detailed information a utility company gathers, and the difficulty of keeping that information secure. He pointed out the ecological, energy saving argument in favor of the technology, and that for a monthly fee people may opt not to have one. The fee may make opting out not an option for those with low incomes. To help familiarize residents with smart meters and the plan for their installation in Ripton in 2012, Mr. Wagner will prepare handouts describing pros and cons of the technology for dis- tribution at town meeting. If considering adoption of an ordinance banning the meters, the selectboard will hear from those on both sides of the issue, and residents."

"There was discussion about town meeting procedures: specifically how to keep people from heading for refreshments during the closing Article: any other business; and the purpose of and procedure for the time given legislators, particularly for questions and answers. The town moderator will be informed of the concerns and suggestions offered."

"Mr. Wagner left the meeting at the end of discussion of these items."
Wagner spoke at length about Smart Meters, fees and unsubstantiated "health and privacy concerns." Given Wagner's long history of partisan misrepresentation, it is laughable to find that he's to "prepare handouts describing pros and cons of the technology." In particular because of the things that he apparently left out of his discussion with the selectboard, to wit, that Wagner's proposed law is patently unconstitutional. Wagner's ordinance proposes:
3. Statements of Law: Bill of Rights for Ripton Residents
(a number of Wagner's enumerated Bill of Rights for Ripton Residents openly conflict with state and federal law but I'm going to just cite here the most troubling one and come back to it later)
(e) The people are sovereign and shall have access to local government.

4.Statements of Law – Prohibitions:.
(c) Corporations cannot enforce state or federal preemptive law on the town of Ripton to override the ordinance.
(d) All local, state, federal permits that are in violation of this ordinance are nullified.
At this very moment there's a case at the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit regarding a preemption issue that the state just lost. It remains to be seen if the federal judge's interpretation of the degree to which preemption is involved will be upheld but if he is, the state of Vermont may be on the hook for more than $4,600,000 in legal fees. Were Wagner's proposed ordinance to pass there'd be no doubt about the outcome for the preemption issue or the result for the Town should the matter find its way to state or federal court. Plain and simple, Ripton would lose the case. Worse still, his ordinance would even take away any real semblance of local control and would allow any resident to force the matter to court since Wagner's ordinance even has a workaround for any form of local or town government interference with his ordinance or, perhaps more accurately, his plans:
5.Enforcement:
(a) Describes the method of enforcement.
(b) The Town may enforce the ordinance.
(c) Any resident may enforce the ordinance.
Wagner's proposed ordinance is a nullification statute on a scale not seen since the early 19th century and the result then was that the proponents did not succeed. At another level, Wagner's proposal is a barely concealed secession ordinance under another name:
8. People’s Right to Self-Govern: The people’s right to local self-government is inalienable. Should state or federal governments attempt to overrule the ordinance, and challenge the people’s right to govern, the Town may secede.
Why would he attempt such a disingenuous workaround for his proposed ordinance rather than obtaining the needed signatures and providing adequate notice of such a potentially important change to Ripton's relationship with both the state and federal governments? Well, he has nearly no following in Ripton and wouldn't have been likely to gather the 5% of all of the registered voters signatures required to warn Town Meeting goers of his proposed radical legislation. As Riptonites will recall, Wagner only received 7% of the votes cast for Senator in the 2010 election. And even a few of those may have been from voters who, not knowing who Wagner was, thought, "Isn't he that nice old gentleman who plays Agent DiNozzo's father on NCIS? Maybe I should vote for him." Or perhaps Wagner's counting on his personal charisma washing over the room to force the matter forward on the floor. Or maybe (more likely) it's an irrational, delusional, ego driven thing since as recently as this past September and nearly a year after his meager last place showing in the Addison County race for a Vermont Senate seat Wagner, who has never served a day in any elective office, wrote here,
"My learned colleagues in the State House..."
It isn't probably going to happen but it'd be nice if Wagner would explain to Ripton voters why he, who has repeatedly criticized others like Sen. Mullin (R-Rutland) for having associations with out of state groups, went to an out of state group from Pennsylvania for sole assistance in writing an ordinance that is unconstitutional in Vermont rather than, say, bringing the matter up earlier with the town's elected officials. After all, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Wagner's nullification strategy is buttressed by his statement that, "(the) people are sovereign." He's counting on Riptonites not being aware of the sovereign citizen movement. More can be learned about Wagner's sovereign citizens movement here, here, here and here. The sovereign citizen claptrap isn't a new thing for Wagner's crowd at Vermont Commons and in the Second Vermont Republic "civic club'; I first wrote about their legal whirlpool more than a year ago here.

And just in case there are still any Riptonites who are still unaware, Robert Wagner is an ardent advocate for Vermont's secession from the U.S. He's already set up a provisional capitol for his nascent nation over the mountain in Hancock, VT.

Wagner's purported Smart Meter ordinance is merely a thinly veiled trick designed to drag his neighbors down into his conspiracy addled, sovereign citizen movement, secessionist rathole via a not so clever shell game.

Vermont Secessionist Robert Wagner's Campaign Finance Hanky Panky

Vermont secessionists have a well deserved reputation for playing fast and loose with the facts and the law. Usually what they assert as fact is a convoluted misrepresentation. On February 16 the announced secesher Vermont senate candidate for Addison County, Robert Wagner (who likes to call himself "Senator" despite never having served in the office and who has set up his provisional capitol in Hancock, VT for his secesher nation) unleashed a tirade of misinformation and invective against his Ripton, VT neighbor, Rep. Willem Jewett (D-Ripton) and Rutland County incumbent Vermont Senate member, Sen. Kevin J. Mullin while voicing his opposition in a matter of public policy before the legislature, a bill know as S.199.

It's an interesting charge since while Wagner makes no claim that a law has been violated by Rep. Jewett or Sen. Mullin, Wagner has been and is presently in violation of at least two campaign laws, in particular that which requires he register as a campaign committee due to his advocacy in opposition to S.199 as well as his urging support of other legislative bills and/or proposed legislation while trolling the legislative halls of the Montpelier Capitol building on behalf of his myriad pet causes. Since Wagner can not yet register legally as a candidate and may not do so until May 14, he is therefore not, in the official sense of the word, a candidate. His website and actions would very much seem to fail under the statutory definition of a lobbyist:
§ 261 (9) “Lobby” or “lobbying” means:
(A) to communicate orally or in writing with any legislator or administrative official for the purpose of influencing legislative or administrative action;
(B) solicitation of others to influence legislative or administrative action;
Since in his post Wagner sought to inoculate himself from the charge of being homophobic, I thought I'd take a crack at that nut first before I get to Wagner's violation of state campaign fundraising law.
"Kevin Mullen(sic)... was re-elected last year to the Rutland Senate District with $28,005 in campaign contributions. Only $1,628 of that was traceable to Vermont, according to FollowTheMoney.org. Why should a single Vermont Senate Race be so important to out-of-state contributors?"

"In 2010, Mullin’s safe seat was in danger from two Independents in his district, Dennis Morrisseau and Bill Cruikshank, part of the Vermont Thirty. Somebody took this threat seriously!"
First off, Wagner's allegation that "only $1,628 of" Mullin's campaign contributions "was traceable to Vermont" is untrue. Perhaps if Wagner' mind hadn't become so addled processing 911 Truther falsehoods he'd have an easier time with actual records.

The not-yet-and-highly-unlikely-to-ever-be "Senator" Wagner suggests erroneously that Sen. Mullin's seat was under threat from two seceshers political wannabes in the 2010 election. That's shear crap. The only danger to Mullin was from radical right-wingers incensed over his vote on Vermont's groundbreaking marriage equality legislation. Secesh fringer candidates Bill Cruikshank and his neighbor, an anti-Semite of the worst kind and serial misogynist, Dennis Morrisseau, were never a threat to any of the other candidates for Rutland County's three senate seats. The suggestion that they ever could have been is laughable and confirmation of Wagner's delusional nature. Here's the truth: Cruikshank came in last with 1.7% of the vote, cheating Morrisseau of his usual showing in an election. Morrisseau got a whooping 1.8% of the vote, securing the next to last place slot. Oh, and Mullin finished first.

What Wagner didn't choose to say was that Mullin's largest contributors in and out of state were gay and lesbian. There is no gay issue before the legislature this year nor likely to be in coming years. This was a generous act on a part of a grateful community from across the country and that's why "a single Vermont Senate Race (was) so important to out-of-state contributors." Wagner may not be overtly homophobic (although given his range of hatreds I can't be so sure) but he's undoubtedly a willing nitwit whose accusation gives aid and comfort to the homophobic opponents of Mullin that did seek to unseat him in 2010. Maybe he can add to his phony charges against Mullin (someone he isn't even running against) that he's in the pocket of Big Gay - not that there's anything wrong with that.

This past Sunday, in an editorial regarding Vermont's healthcare system system, Mullin's hometown newspaper, often described as "left-leaning" and occasionally dubbed "The Russian Herald" described the senior member of Rutland County's senate team of three thusly,
"Mullin may be the most influential Republican working on behalf of health care reform. Republicans are few in number in the Senate, but Mullin has assumed a constructive, positive role."
Wagner would do well to consider how a negative, extremely divisive and personally repugnant campaign will fair in Vermont over likely opponents with a reputation for honesty and comity. The Vermont political boneyard is littered with the remains of campaigns such as his - the similarly hateful Take Back Vermont crowd, the equally negative Six Pack, etc. In Vermont, successful politicians run for something, not at or against someone.

Recently at a legislative breakfast Wagner was called on one of his falsehoods by his neighbor and legislative representative, Willem Jewett (D-Ripton), specifically, that Vermonters don't have the same access that lobbyists have to legislative committees. Apparently the "Senator" didn't care for being challenged over one of his myths so he's now taking on another member of the legislature who's had it with his bullshit, as, I suppose, have most of his Ripton neighbors. When Rep. Jewett last ran he received 1,595 votes in the six towns that comprise the Addison-2 district he represents, 257 of which came from Ripton; non-Senator Wagner received only 1128 votes from the twenty-four towns of the Addison County senate seat (which includes Rutland County's Brandon), of which Ripton gave the anger challenged Wagner a total of 37! or 7% of his hometown vote. Perhaps a part what's made Wagner such a disliked figure in his hometown is his baseless and scurrilous attack on Ripton's selectboard that I reported on here.

Wagner has also used information that he obtained from an out-of-state website (all the while complaining about out-of-state financial support for candidates that he hates) that specifically precludes the Wagners of the world from using the information as he did. Directly beneath the information that Wagner quotes from Project Vote Smart about Rep. Jewett (information that is true for virtually every legislative member in Vermont who does not see the value in submitting to questionnaires from Texas as Wagner does) is this admonition in bold to political sleaze balls like Wagner:
Project Vote Smart does not permit the use of its name or programs in any campaign activity including advertising, debates, and speeches.
Putting what he found on his campaign website and using it as he did would certainly be a violation of Project Vote Smart's prohibition but I don't think that'll trouble what's already coming to be seen as the ugliest, searingly pessimistic and most negative campaign in the 2012 election - Robert Wagner's ill-fated campaign to wreck the Vermont's Senate, The Thirty. And just so there's no room for Wagner to try to weasel his way out of what he was doing, using Project Vote Smart in furtherance of his campaign, here's what he said about Jewett:
"My house rep stands for nothing but his political career, and votes as required to keep the corporate money and federal handouts flowing. Jewett must go."
Of course, I'll be keeping track of the totals, Wagner's dismal excuses and the lines he'll cavalierly cross in 2012, as well as his numerous hypocrisies and lies, but here's what this phony critic of his fellow Vermonters has done in the way of a blatant violation of Vermont's campaign law. I've learned from a source (two can play that game "Senator") that a complaint was submitted this fall to the Vermont Secretary of State's office regarding an illegal campaign solicitation that appeared on Wagner's fringer website.

Here's the scam that Wagner's pulling: candidates are permitted to “'passing-the-hat' at a fundraiser" but apparently Wagner is saying that his website is a "fundraiser" and that he's creating a new wrinkle to the public financing mess by claiming that he's merely passing his e-hat. On August 23, 2011 he had this pasted campaign donation box on his campaign website that also had next to it, under his mug, an admonishment that government should "respect the rule of law":

It's clear though that Wagner was willing to take donations in any amount from anonymous donors no matter what the law since, in fact, "the rule of law" doesn't really matter so much to him. His act was illegal no matter how he now spins it. After the complaint was made to Vermont Secretary of State's office, Wagner reduced the amount that he was willing to accept illegally to $50 or under. According to the Vermont Secretary of State's Campaign Finance law brochure, the law doesn't seem to include Wagner's self-serving thinking:
"Note that no individual can put more than $50.00 in cash into the hat because contributions in excess of $50.00 must be by check, credit card or debit card."
With all the problems today over fundraisering sleaze, it figures that Wagner would be the one to come up with calling a website a hat.

But I guess if you're an aspiring political wannabe, details like following the law, as well as its spirit, don't really matter when the ultimate goal is to smear others who've not violated the law. Wagner's really just following the lead from July of last year of his mentor, Thomas Naylor, who sought to act as a super-PAC until it was revealed on this blog here. You see, Naylor offered to send a free book of his (Amazon stats reveal that Naylor's books can't sell except in the category of +1,000,000 others sell better than his) to $100 contributors to the 2012 Vermont secesher legislator's campaign. Naylor illegally solicited funds without registering as a PAC (political action committee) via this on his website:
Support Us
"Please help us save Vermont, America, and the rest of the world from the American Empire by helping tiny Vermont lead the nation into disunion. If SVR is to move to the next level, electing members of the state legislature who are open secessionists, we need your financial support. Those who contribute $100 or more receive a complimentary copy of Thomas H. Naylor’s provocative, 100-page, unpublished monograph Rebél, a philosophy of peaceful rebellion against the human condition and the American Empire."

"Complete this form and return it with your check to The Second Vermont Republic, P.O. Box ***, *********, VT 05***."
Shortly after I revealed Naylor's electoral impropriety in July, he took that legislative campaign solicitation off of his website.

I wonder how long it'll take Wagner's "The 30" campaign to also come into complete compliance with the letter and as well as the spirit of the law, rather than the self-serving and most likely illegal interpretation that a hat can be passed on a website.

Meanwhile, in closing, there's still been no word yet about whether Wagner will be returning the $288.30 subsidy he received while flying out of the airport in Rutland, VT, which is exactly the kind of subsidy that he "is strongly opposed to" and has argued harms Vermonters that I revealed he'd hypocritically availed himself of (as in sticking his snout in the federal money trough) here.

Wagner must publicly give back that subsidy money or he'll be exposed for the hypocrite and fraud that so many of us Vermonters now know him to be.

Housekeeping

I know that most people, like myself, don't spend a lot of time on a blog's Links column but I thought I'd note a few changes in the Links column to the right that in two cases mark recognitions, in one a transition and in another mark the link as something that I put up a few months back but that I'd like to make further mention as being a worthwhile blog to visit.

Starting with that last one first, The Blood of My Kindred is a well written examination of Civil War history along with exposés of the historical revisionism being perpetrated by League of the South types.

I'm adding the not-so-"Senator" Wagner website to the list of websites that I identify as "neo-Confederate, neo-Nazi, Paleoconservative, Racist, White Separatist, anti-Government Sovereignty Activists and Related Links, as well as Their Enablers and Supporters." Certainly, Wagner qualifies as an "anti-Government Sovereignty Activist" if not an outright enabler of misogynists, racists, anti-Semites and homophobes. Also joining that list will be a League of the South website run by a piece of dirt called Mike Tuggle. He's a former North Carolina League of the South Chairman and a current Board of Director member of the national (?) League of the South who serves there alongside such white supremacist notables as Michael Hill and Franklin Sanders, and is a supporter of Thomas Naylor's moribund Second Vermont Republic "think tank." His blog specializes in secession, dog-whistle racism and anti-Semitism, alongside overtly homophobic diatribes, and his sole claim to meaningful accomplishment seems to be mastery of the Spell Check tab in Blogger.

On a more personally disappointing note, I've moving the Ohio Republic blog to the same column as Wagner's and Tuggle's, not so much because its author, Harold Thomas, espouses the sort of virulent hatred that oozes from sites like Wagner's, Tuggle's and, of course, Naylor's, but because of the open support he offers Tuggle's vile LOS website.

An item that I've added above the links areas is the new Eye on the "30" feature that will carry direct links to posts that rectify the records and fact check the various secessionist or secesher candidates that announce for this year. The 2010 election proved to be a watershed occasion as a result of the falsehoods, negativity and downright nuttiness of the various secesher campaigns. With one truly announced secessionist candidate thus far, Robert Wagner, 2012 looks open to equally, if not more so, unsatisfactory and deliberately hurtful secesher campaigns.

Ripton Vermont's Robert Wagner Throws A Hissy Fit Over A Delayed Flight Out Of Rutland's Airport

By now you've all heard of Vermont secessionist Robert Wagner's tendency to fly off the handle for the slightest perceived cause, whether it be communities solving and paying for local needs that he disapproves of based on his own specious reasoning while at the same time seeking to bellying up to the state and federal funding trough to get some goodies delivered to his community at statewide expense.

Wagner, who prefers to be called "Senator" despite having never held such an office, is once again running for the Addison County senate seat in the Vermont legislature; he proclaims such again for the umpteenth time in this recent announcement. Perhaps it's because the media doesn't immediately scrub the news lineup to highlight the latest Wagner barrage of hate directed at his neighbors from Addison County who serve in the legislature that Wagner feels compelled to offer these serial announcements, but whatever the reason it's all getting quite old - like his lie about having six others (that he alleges will ultimately will become thirty) who are running arm in arm with him to takeover the Vermont Senate from those already there who are "corrupt" and are "thieves," as Wagner wrote in his post "How the Vermont Legislature Steals From Us". None of the four (not five) candidates that he lists at his website are as yet registered candidates for Senate; some of their nonsense websites have even gone "dark." Even "Senator" Wagner hasn't bothered to complete the necessary registration form, despite his redundant announcements. What's his strategy this time - a write-in November surprise?

We can now add to the river of nonsense that spews from candidate Wagner his thoughts on flight operations. You see, Wagner would have us believe that flight control is dictated merely by the the weather at the end of his nose. In what can only be described as Wagner's "air rage" snit in his recent rant here over his delayed departure from the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport (RUT) we learn that he was told that weather was the cause for his hour long delayed departure. Never mind his muddled understanding of modern, more effective weather services, such delays are not uncommon in the airline industry. Delays or cancellations are normally due to weather or mechanics, mechanics being something as mundane as a malfunctioning gauge where no true mechanical issue is involved other than a minor electrical fix.

Bear with me as I explain a few air industry fundamentals since there's one helluva punchline to the whole fuss that Wagner raised on the ramp at RUT.

Wagner's sophomoric misunderstanding of the essentials of Air Traffic Flow Management are breathtaking. Ground stops that necessitate aircraft to remain on the ramp or runway awaiting takeoff clearance are not exceptional when varying weather conditions en route or at the destination require readiness to rejoin the "flow" at a few minutes notice. Necessary pre-flight check procedures when re-starting an aircraft can lead to a missed opportunity to rejoin that "flow," particularly in the case of small aircraft such as the small twin engine, nine seat Cessna 402 (oh, yeah, Wagner didn't tell you about that in his rant, did he?). Also, Cessna 402s are much more subject to wind activity at an arrival airport such as at his destination, Logan Airport, than are the larger, instrument heavy aircraft that can handle the tricky Boston Harbor offshore winds (believe me, I know), if not on runway 19 at RUT.

Certainly, this isn't the first time that Wagner's, willfully or not, displayed a self-serving ignorance of basic facts in order to advance his meme-of-the-day. But in this case it flies (pun intended again) in the face of his oft stated principles as a candidate for the Vermont Senate. Let me quote the would be senator from his most recent campaign announcement:
Question: "Would you vote to end government subsidies to private industry?"
Answer: "End them immediately!"

Source
And...
"In 2012, I’m going to be a grandpa. Folks, it takes something like this to broaden your perspective… and now it’s personal for me: I am strongly opposed to Vermont taking federal money, because it’s borrowed money that my grandchildren will get stuck paying back. Deprived of the opportunities that I had, simply because of one short-sighted, greedy generation."

"I say this now: the job of a State Legislator is to protect the rights and fortunes of the people who sent him
(why not her, Robert?) to Montpelier. Not; I repeat NOT to give up those rights to gain federal grants for make-work projects in his district."

"These federal grants, stimulus and other welfare is DEBT: money borrowed from my grandkids without my consent and spent today. We Vermonters would be better off holding onto our hard-earned cash. It is a traditional Vermont value to do without what we cannot yet afford, to scrimp & save until we can buy something honestly. Handouts simply aren’t the Vermont way."
Yah.

Here's the deal: Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport receives what's called an Essential Air Service federal grant subsidy (government documents file folder may be accessed here) in the amount of $797,151 per year to operate commercial flights using Cape Air's nine passenger Cessna 402 aircraft. A 14 day one way advance booking costs a passenger $49. Based on the CY 2010 enplanements, the taxpayer's federal subsidy for Robert Wagner's round trip excellent adventure computes to be $288.30! Cha-ching!

The question now for Vermonters is when will Wagner, who is "strongly opposed" to goverment subsidies and federal grants, reimburse the Vermont tax paying community for his recent (as well as possibly earlier) bellying up to the federal grant trough? How 'bout a check to the Vermont General Fund so that Vermonters and their grandchildren aren't saddled with underwriting Wagner's whiny travels, a luxury that many Vermonters in today's economic climate can little afford for themselves.

I wouldn't hold my breath but I'm gonna keep asking when he or his employer intend to pony up the $288.30 "handout" he so "strongly oppose(s)"; that is, when it's not him slopping at the federal subsidy trough that he demands not be afforded to his Vemont neighbors.

Robert Wagner - What. A. Flaming. Asshole. Hypocrite.

Eye on "The 30" - Monthly Update #2

Just a brief update on "Senator" Wagner's progress in making truthful his July 20 boast that he had 6 candidates of the 30 needed to takeover the Vermont Senate.

As you may recall, I pointed out in this post that he'd only named 2 of the 30 as of August 1. On August 2 he added a graphic that showed 4 names (he forgot his own). Then on August 5 he added his own name which brought the total announced by him to be running to 5. (See graphics here)

It's now two months since he first made that boast that he already had 6 candidates running and yet still that sixth candidate remains a mystery.

And still 5 ≠ 6.

"Senator" Wagner Makes It Official!

At this point, he's going to make his likely to lose, fringer campaign for the Vermont Senate possibly the dirtiness, most negative, dishonest campaign in Addison county history and perhaps, although we've yet to see, in Vermont campaigns for a seat in the General Assembly.

You see, in Robert Wagner's world, a world unfamiliar to his neighbors in Ripton and the people he purports to represent (although he's never won an election anywhere that I can find, except in his head) in the Addison County-Brandon Vermont Senate district, all members of the Vermont legislature are dishonest; in fact, he calls them all thieves here and enablers of corporate theft:
"(International corporations... in Vermont) suck our natural resources dry, we build roads so their trucks can take our groundwater and minerals out-of-state for processing… and they pay no taxes… they’re stealing from us, and our Legislature helps them steal."
Wagner then drives home the point that he's talking about Sen. Claire Ayer (D-Addison):
"My opponent in the 2010 & 2012 elections, incumbent Claire Ayer, stated in a public meeting last Summer[sic] that going after Entergy for fines would be “too hard”. (Much less vote to shut down that leaker that they’re running into the ground.)"

"A double standard. My learned colleagues in the State House get to APPEAR to be antinuclear. Entergy’s in business to make a buck… and Entergy wouldn’t be making any bucks if the Legislature weren’t helping them left and right with environmental subsidies, exemptions, and special tax-free status."

"Too hard indeed. Radioactive tritium has been leaking into soil and water around the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant, Entergy officials misled state regulators and lawmakers by saying the plant didn’t have the kind of underground piping that carried tritium, and no fine. Ayer’s really saying that Vermonters will pay part of Entergy’s cost of doing business, keeping electricity costs low through public subsidy… so her party looks good."

"That’s all the incumbents have to offer folks: politics as usual."
Wagner doesn't accurately represent Ayer's position vis à vis why it would be "too hard," he just rails on about Entergy as though that's all that's needed to justify a legal fine.

But one need only look at his statement, "My learned colleagues in the State House," to get a true sense of how deluded Wagner is about his role in the legislature - he has none. He's never once been elected to the legislature, so such posturing is a lie.

You can see the rest of his angry, cut-and-paste ramble here.

I'll have more soon on Wagner's apparent vendettas, self-esteem issues and ongoing delusions.

In the meantime, I submit that candidate Wagner should at least do as his declared opponent has done, someone who he claims is dishonest, which is to disclose who his contributors are and what his campaign expenses have been (something neither he nor any of his past secesher legislative "colleagues" did in 2010), as his declared opponent Claire Ayer has already done months ago here, despite her not having reached the statutorily require threshold.

"Senator" Wagner Is Digging In on His More Than One Month Old Lie

It's fascinating to watch as Ripton, VT's Robert Wagner, the primary organizer of a campaign to throw out every Vermont state senator for being "corrupt," for "stealing from us," and for being "pathological liars," repeatedly lying on his own website about the number of Vermont secesher, er, independence candidates. Thus far, the list includes only five of the usual secesher losers whose electoral showings are normally single digit or often just a fraction of that - loopy Dennis Morrisseau, nasty Peter Garritano, flaky Peter Moss, newbie but longtime secession promoter and Second Vermont Republic honcho Michael Patno, as well as his own sorry, unaccomplished self, a member of Rob Williams' stable of headcase bloggers at "Vermont Commons", Robert Wagner.

"... we must vote out the incumbents, starting with the Vermont Senate. 30 seats. We can do it, will you run with us? I’m recruiting senators… the pay’s decent, we’ve got six so far."
Although I'd normally link to "Senator" Wagner's post, this one contains photographs that gratuitously conflate the violence in Libya with some of Wagner's usual cheesy arguments. The guy is becoming a true asshole.

5 ≠ 6

Eye On "The 30" - Their Senate Campaigns Are To Be Buttressed With Sappy Glurges

Oy!!

After running two of the most lackluster, over-the-line stoopid campaigns for the Vermont Senate in 2010, the neo-Confederacy of Dunces comprised of "Senator" Robert Wagner (Addison-I) and the Second Vermont Republic's "Very Foreign Minister", Dennis Morriseau (Rutland-I), apparently think that a mawkish strategy based on sheer bullshit about the past is now the way to go.

Their distorted view of the 1960s is so appealing to these two secesher Mad Men that Denny passed along an urban legend, commonly called a "glurge," that's been getting chain emailed everywhere during the past six months. It's about recycling and such, and is called "The Green Thing." The "Senator" asked for the author of the original email chain letter to contact him so he could provide attribution for the piece. This one is so new that Snopes.com hasn't written about it yet but already, as the "Senator" could have easily found for himself, you get 230,000 hits for "The Green Thing."

Email chain letters like "The Green Thing" often have a sappy ring of truth to them that ignores the reality of such times. The "Senator" goes so far as to suggest that court ordered reapportionment in the 1960s, designed to eliminate disproportionate control of the legislature by small towns, was a bad thing and mistakenly suggests that it was the legislature that "usurp(ed) the authority of Town Meeting." No, "Senator." It was as a result of a "one person, one vote" ruling and order from the federal court in Buckley v. Hoff (1964) that the stranglehold of small towns like Ripton, VT on the legislature was eliminated.

Some of the other cool things that the "Senator" and Denny have forgotten or misremembered about the 1960s that don't get a mention in "The Green Thing" are: both Kennedys, Malcom X and the King assassinations; anti-miscegenation laws to protect against race mixing, something that at least one major SVR financial supporter, James Duncan, has a problem with even today; Jim Crow Laws; riots everywhere, from Detroit to Stonewall; the treatment of women (more on that below); ramping up the Vietnam War; raw sewage being piped directly from individual homes and businesses into Vermont's streams and rivers, as well as untreated waste and industrial chemicals, so much so that in many areas the streams and rivers had ecological "dead zones"; lesbians and gays being legally proscribed and medically defined as mentally ill; job and housing discrimination was legal; poll taxes; "Hey Jude"; the Voting Rights Act (the "debt crisis" political fight of its day); and, smokers were everywhere. Good times, eh guys?

You can find handy tips about how to spot an urban legend here.

Regarding women, it appears that Denny's views about them haven't evolved much since the 1960s. On February 16 of 2010, as he became aware that Anne Galloway at VTDigger was not going to agree to publish promotional material on behalf of the views of the "Very Foreign Minister" of the Second Vermont Republic, he wrote in that ALL CAPS way of his of her publication:
"WITH OUT A DOUBT, Digger is excrescence of CIA.......
Still....we gotta use the MAN'S media to extent that we can.
While biulding(sic) our own internal and external communications..."
On May 27, Denny wrote in response to a sexist nickname used by the "Senator" who had referred to Galloway as "VT GoldDigger":
"The Lady is CIA, and if she wants to sue me for the remark, she is welcome to."
DM/VFM (Very Foreign Minister)
On May 30, VTCommons publisher/editor Rob Williams chimed in about Galloway:
"CIA spook that she is..."
In a later exchange on June 1, between the "Senator" (who complained that his pithy comments were being deleted from VTDigger) and VTCommons publisher Rob Williams, Williams wrote something that explains the lack of any objective quality at his propaganda rag:
"Most reporters regurgitate press release as "fact," and call it objective journalism, friends."
"When they dare to have an opinion, they put it on the OP/ED pages."
"It ain't right, and we need to challenge it (as everything else...)"
Following in his "she's-a-CIA-operative" theme, Morrisseau responded about Anne Galloway:
"a sycophant or sucking for a job......or earning her little stipend now......What's the difference?"
"Spooks come in many varieties as do the rest of us.
But this tone had been set back on February 16 when Morrisseau wrote of how to handle VT Digger publisher, Anne Galloway:
"We will seduce her."
To which James Duncan, the racist and homophobic contributor to Dennis Steele's campaign responded:
"You are such a womanizer Denni."
But the real Morrisseau, vis-à-vis how he today sees a professional journalist who happens to be a woman, shines through in this comment to the rest of what Dixie singing Thomas Naylor likes to call his "Internet cowboys":
"Because I savaged her in our first few exchanges."
"Now I am making nice. And she likes that better. So she is liking me better......"
"Before I punched her, she did not know me or care a fig........"
"Now she sees I can laugh, I am playful....possibly intelligent...and I differ with her........"
"She begins to be intrigued."
"We have to be lovers to these sorts...... I know that is a little crass....but it's DO OR DIE time."
And so on May 28, under the subject line, "I've had enough of Galloway. VT GoldDigger" Morrisseau wrote:
"No reason for her to breathe OR DO WHAT SHE DOES.....unless she is a SPOOK."
"NOBOCY(sic) is that venal from stupidity."
To date, not one of Naylor's "Internet cowboys" who were active recipients on the secesher listserv has made any public statement condemning Morrisseau's outrageous, violence laced, sexist diatribes. Not the publisher of VTCommons, Rob Williams; nor Washington Senate candidate Gaelan Brown; nor educator & rocket scientist Gary Flomenhoft; nor the very strange Franklin County perennial loser, Peter Moss; nor homophobe and racist bigot James Duncan; nor the failed lite guv candidate, and now the present day candidate for a Chittenden County Senate seat, Peter Garritano; nor, of course, Morrisseau's self-described "friend," Addison County's Senate wannabe, "Senator" Robert Wagner.

Unless the secesher boys club take steps to address their indisputable sexism problem, they are destined for another round of exceptionally failed electoral campaigns. No doubt that VTCommons' anti-Semitic blogger and sometimes ardent feminist when it suits her agenda, Carol Moore, will be taking the boys club to task over their vile, long-running wallow in misogyny - yeah, right.

"Senator" Robert Wagner Is Clueless

I've just read his recent expansion to a post that Addison County's wouldbe senator, "Senator" Robert Wagner, put up yesterday here. It's astounding both for its ignorance of the facts and its chessiness, in that he seems to suggest that violence is a path that Vermonters might be on the brink of considering. He says,
"Vermonters: you should be angry. But you should also know what to do with that anger… read on…"

"From Montpelier: cuts to teachers pensions, with more cuts and school closures in the offing. From London, the same: see the video. They’re just a bit further along than we are. London’s on fire. How long can you permit your state rep and senator to act in a fiscally irresponsible fashion?"
When he wrote that this picture of a woman leaping for her life from flames set by criminals was everywhere:

Story here.

If "Senator" Robert Wagner believes that the situation in London is comparable to that in Vermont, as he would seem to want us to think, he's nuts.

Eye On "The 30"

Beginning this month I'll be updating, as circumstances warrant, the efforts of "Senator" Robert Wagner (I-Addison) (yes, yes, I know that he's never been elected to a senatorial post but the guy's so friggin' needy that he calls himself "Senator," so let's humor him) to take over the Vermont Senate in 2012, as well as his cohorts in the Vermont secesher movement.

So far, it's only him and perennial electoral loser, Denny Morrisseau, "The 30's" token candidate for Rutland county who've recently publicized their intentions. A couple of the others of Vermont's perpetual loony candidates have indicated a desire to run but it may have just been their recent 2010 losses that prompted those claims - let's see if they come to their senses before treating their "one-more-time" candidacies for every office under the sun at the same time seriously. Meanwhile, Michele Bachmann would have a better chance of taking Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco congressional seat than Morrisseau ever has of making a decent showing in Rutland county. In true fringer fashion, Morrisseau, who likes to call himself "The Very Foreign Minister of the Second Vermont Republic," garnered a whopping 1.8% of the vote in his 2010 senatorial bid.

Now to today's installment of "Eye On 'The 30'": over the weekend "Senator" Wagner posted another of his poorly considered choices for issue analysis (no, not another Teabagger this time) from a contributor to a racist, neo-Confederate publication that is loosely allied with the League of the South called Chronicles: A Magazine of American Culture, as well as to that incubator for neo-Confederate thought and theory, The Ludwig von Mises Institute, Justin Raimondo, here. You'd think that the "Senator" would have started to do a little homework to ensure that he doesn't make the same mistake that his associates at SVR and VTCommons have repeatedly made by tying themselves to neo-Confederate, white supremacist groups and individuals. A quick Google search reveals scads of material in which Raimondo is described as "an American neo-Fascist," as virulently opposed to marriage equality and is an oddly long-time supporter of the homophobic and openly racist Pat Buchanan:
Gay Buchanan Backer Defends His Candidate
San Francisco Chronicle
Jim Herron Zamora
February 23, 1996

Justin Raimondo is an openly gay man who believes that "Pat Buchanan is absolutely the best thing for America."

A longtime activist in conservative and Libertarian circles, Raimondo headed Buchanan's operation in San Francisco in 1992 and is volunteering for the 1996 campaign.

"I see no conflict between my political beliefs and my personal life," said Raimondo, 44. "Being homosexual is not like being a Libertarian or a socialist."

Raimondo's political affiliation flies in the face of the the views of many gay people, who consider Buchanan a bigot and hatemonger.

Buchanan has said he will keep openly gay people out of top White House positions if elected. But, according to Raimondo, the candidate knows and apparently doesn't care that his San Francisco supporter is gay.

"The whole gay agenda is just a sham," Raimondo said.

"The whole thing they say that Pat Buchanan wants to round us all up and send us to concentration camps is just a bunch of crap. It's a lie and a smear. He welcomes gay workers in his campaign.

"He does not think that homosexuality is all that great a thing. But I don't need his approval. Why does any gay person need anyone's benediction?"

Raimondo said a person's sexual orientation should be a private matter and that gay or lesbian people should not "force their sexuality on an unwilling public."

He also said he does not believe that gays and lesbians need "special protections" against discrimination.

Raimondo said he agrees with Buchanan on most issues.

"I'm a right-wing populist," Raimondo said Thursday.

"I support this political platform. I support America first."

He also endorsed Buchanan's opposition to U.S. intervention in Bosnia, the North American Free Trade Agreement and the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.

Raimondo, a New York native who has lived in San Francisco for 24 years, does not agree with Buchanan on every issue.

"I am pro-choice. But I agree with so much that Pat stands for. He has really gone beyond right and left to revitalize this country."

Raimondo, an analyst at the Center for Libertarian Studies in Burlingame, is the only Republican on the March primary ballot seeking the opportunity to challenge Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, in November.

In the 1992 campaign, Raimondo worked from his home handling media, organizing rallies and recruiting volunteers for Buchanan. This time around he hopes to help Buchanan "go all the way to the White House."

Buchanan wrote the foreword to the second edition of Raimondo's 1993 book, "Reclaiming the American Right: The Lost Legacy of the Conservative Movement."

Raimondo's perception of Buchanan's stance on gays does not sit well with San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano, who is gay.

"He has a history of comments like this and is shunned by the gay community and their supporters," Ammiano said of Raimondo. "He loves to see his name in print. He's so contrary to what the perceptions are that it makes him so different people will write about him."

Buchanan has drawn the wrath of the nation's largest gay and lesbian Republican organization, Log Cabin Republicans, with 10,000 members in 30 states. Its executive director, Richard Tafel, in Washington, is urging members to help defeat the conservative commentator.

"The Republican Party is beginning to reap the harvest of pandering to the far right," Tafel said. ". . . Buchanan's irresponsible rhetoric about gays and lesbians should cause all Americans to shudder. Stopping Pat Buchanan now should be the goal of every gay and lesbian American."
"Senator" Wagner lauds this nutjob Raimondo as a "conservative voice" whose "good analysis... illustrates what the Independen(ce) movement in Vermont is all about."

Here is how conservatives describe "Senator" Wagner's nominee for an out of state "conservative voice" Vermonters need to hear.
